as it came out of oklahoma city, edmond, and on toward carney. i believe carney probably took it the worst. that's where we had the highest gate-to-gate shear. the doppler radar seeing different directions. wind coming toward the doppler and away from the doppler at 130, 140 miles per hour right there near the carney area going over the highway that connects carney into wellston. as this storm continued to move toward the east, it died off a little bit. it's reintensifying and we have a new tornado warning for the western suburbs of tulsa. i'm very concerned, lake thunderbird, though, on toward bethel acres, that's where the highest degree of danger right now lies. there are three separate super cell s. the one rotating the most is southeast of oklahoma city proper. slightly rural right now, but there are more towns and cities in the way. as this continues to get stronger, don, the storm southeast of oklahoma city is getting stronger, not moving toward oklahoma city, but definitely toward possibly the shawnee or the bethel acres area. take cover

it started this afternoon edmond oklahoma, north of oklahoma city, tornadoes doing damage in edmond. they continue to go to the east to arcadia, oklahoma, luther, oklahoma, an area called carnie, oklahoma. then we started seeing this super cell forming to the south of oklahoma city near norman which incidentally is where the national weather service has an office. i talked to them earlier i called them what's going on down there? they could see rotation forming out of their back door. that cell started in norman then started jogging over to the east. we understand doing a great deal of damage to the northwest side of lake thunderbird which is east of norman then it went into the area of pink, oklahoma. pink as in the color. and then the damage we are seeing out of shawnee. that shawnee damage was out of the second super cell that formed to the southeast of oklahoma city. oklahoma city to the most part seems to be fair. most of the damage these cells again to the north and east of oklahoma city and to the south and to the southeast of oklahoma city, but only time will tell, because as

i had a home in edmond, oklahoma, didn't have a shelter at all. it was knocked off its foundation before i lived in it and then rebuilt. but i think you can actually get aboveground safe rooms. there are enough places in this school that in interior rooms -- this is the school we're talking about, interior rooms are still there. if you put some type of a safe room, these are all the safe rooms we know about so far that have been funded by grants right through the tornado path. there's more. look to the north and south, but right through the middle not very many. we're talking bulletproof fabric put over 4 x 8 sheets of plywood bolted to the ground with ramps so the wind goes over the top. think of almost making a building that looks like a dome or something so that the wind blows over it. it's not so much that the tornado picked people up, it's that the pressure of wind pushed the storm down, pushes the walls down. this is the distribution of tornadoes over the past 60 years across north america. and there are tornadoes almost everywhere. here's k
