rich edson has the latest on washington, d.c. rich: president obama taking a question after meeting with the british prime minister saying this irs conduct is not acceptable. >> i can tell you if you have the irs, anything less than a neutral and nonpartisan way, that is outrageous, contrary to our traditions and people have to be held accountable and have to be fixed. >ridge: another promise investigation. chairman max baucus says they should be prepaaed for a full investigation by the senate finance committee, the irs will now be the ones put under additional scrutiny. treasury inspector general is investigating this and has assembled a timeline of the irs targeting conservative groups showing irs search for groups apply for tax-exempt status involving tea party groups in the spring of 2010. in july they requested specialists to be on the lookout. july 2011 attended a briefing, and on the agenda that day was the discussion of identifying groups whose issues involve government spending and debt and taxes and criticize how the go

dagen: rich edson to tell you how tough. rich: it does not look like it is going anywhere right now. it gives states the authority to collect sales taxes on customers buy an item over the internet. they need a presence in the state to levy a tax. it still has to pass the house. there is support for it there. the senate shows strong bipartisan support the marketplace fairness act law states to collect sales taxes due whether or not the sale takes place on main street or online has broad support for members, governors and mayors across the country and across ideological divide. however the republicans control the house schedule and john boehner has failed to give it his endorsement. >> i would probably refer you to the chairman of the judiciary committee. they have jurisdiction over this. i have not talked to him about it. i don't know if his intent is in terms of his interested moving through his committee or not. rich: he says the bill has a long way to go t his eyes indicating the committee will look into alternatives, a co

rich edson joins us from deasy with more. >> reporter: in their report u.s.fficials are concerned that cyber spying is gathering intelligence. traders could later use it to damage infrastructure. some on capitol hill charge companies aren't prepared for such an attack. democrats and house energy and commerce committee report computer systems are tolerable. in a statement, vital to our economy and national security. the utility responses are sobering and reveals serious gaps in the security of our electric grid. congress needs to address these gaps in a non-partisan way. companies said testified in the past, they're investing in some security and working with the government. there is also a new report offering recommendations of businesses to protect their trade secrets. mostly from hackers and china. it suggests changing u.s. law t allow private companies to hacked back at hackers if intellectual property theft continues at its current considerable pace. one analyst says, that's a bad deal. >> it could turn against you as well because these are very sophistic
