i first got involved in education about 24 years ago. i ran for state board of education.king to get typically involved. as a part-time volunteer position a couple days a month. i did that for six years. one of the roles and the state board of colorado and this gets to how i got introduced to this concept. we have a quasijudicial role in our state. when a district turns down the charter application, they make their stage to the stateboard and the stateboard can effectively order the district to grant it. i saw all these great ideas coming from people in that role and help charter schools lunch. ultimately i applied my entrepreneurs to the sector. i started two charter schools myself in colorado. one of them is also in arizona, new mexico now. new america school. one for homeless youth in denver. in congress i served on the education committee the whole time. worked hard as the champion of charter schools in esa and the different charter school applications and no as governor. as a businessperson it became obvious. we already had open enrollment in our state. very excited t
