edward lawrence joining me here in new york city today. how many government jobs were lost? >> 10,000 federal government jobs lost and we'll get to that. this is the first report under the full president trump administration. the doge cuts have not cycled through and this is a hangover from the biden administration economist steve moore said. it's on the debt than a year ago. that's a drag on the economy but it's shifting from a government-based economy picking winners and losers to a market-based economy and the economy stands alone on the private sector. to that point, government sector last 10,000 and government hiring from state, local and federal, under the first trump administration, the government lost 6 26,000 jobs for 2017 to 2020. under biden administration, government sector added 1.8 million jobs from 2021-2022. that's taxpayer money and this is the trend that president trump wants to turn around. the other issue in the jobs report with the labor force participation. how many people are employed or seeking work and fallen to the lowest since january of 2023. >> a
