[applause] mayor lee: good morning. welcome to the city of innovation, san francisco. we continue to be really strong. i want you to feel comfortable, all of you here. it sounds like every six months we will be coming back to make another announcement. i was here in march when we talk about the first major expansion, and, of course, i got to have the personal tour from carl and his wonderful staff to see all the different products and all the work has not only trading, but is the part of the way so many other companies are doing business, and we had a chance to talk this morning about all the different hospitals, the medical field, and the seismic retrofit requirements. all of the contractors and major engineering firms are using the very product you see here to be able to model their buildings. clearly, without that modern technology, you cannot see how some of these things can be sequenced with the great savings that are inherent in using 3-d dimensional looks at the way everything from hdc to architectural drawings a

we have a special treat today because mayor edwin lee will be handing out the awards. we also have supervisor mirkarimi and kim who will be helping to hand out the awards and flowers to the warriors. now i would like everyone to stand up and line up over here. as i call your name, please come on up. [applause] denise castro, 17, is a college- bound ambassador at marshall elementary school where she helps students with their homework and students with after-school activities. she is an inspiring membe

i, too, would like to extend my gratitude to the honorable edwin lee. thanks so much for coming. hopefully, you got a small chance to look around. the gallery was really built for to the we will purposes. one was to showcase the work of the customers, which is the best way [inaudible] secondly, to show off new technology and how you can use it to sell technology challenges. if you look around, you can see interesting things. i just had the experience of bringing my nephews. we eventually printed things out. that was very exciting. one thing that was particularly exciting was the announcement of our presence in san francisco. it has been a great location for us. we have continually expanded over the last half-dozen years. we love to meet here in the city. this has turned out to be a fantastic place to host and guests. it has been a fantastic place to attract employees, to tap into the creativity and imagination of the city and all the support it provides. we are thrilled to be here, and we will continue to expand our presence here. this morning, we are announcing that we are build

[applause] >> you are talking to one of the happiest people in san francisco. this was an extraordinary an historic vote. but it was symbolic. remember, the new board of supervisors who convenes tomorrow will make the actual decision on who the next mayor will be. >> everybody came down to ed lee with the expectation that it will be done in the most intellectually honest way and in a way that role and order is respected. i think we discussed a few nominations and came down to this one by a common denominator. >> i had a sense of urgency because i did not want to see anyone being acting mayor in the presence of the board of supervisors. that is not the kind of transition i talked about. we need to have a transition -- legislative branch separate from the executive branch of san francisco. that is the best way to do our work. people would not like the situation of having an acting mayor and president of the board of supervisors. >> now the dominoes in this chain of political events were

[applause] >> good afternoon, everyone. it is my personal honor and pleasure to join you here today along with the interfaith council and our fantastic orchestra and opera and to celebrate and commemorate this 9/11 event. a decade after the terrorist attacks occurred on it 9/11, we continue to struggle to make sense of the terrible events of that day. while san francisco is more than 3,000 miles away from the attacks on twin towers and the pentagon, we felt the devastation and loss keenly in our city, and we will continue to remember and honor those who passed. it is important to me into the people of san francisco that remember and honor the fallen, including hometown american heroes like betty young and mark bingham. betty's call for a flight 11 was the first indication that america was under attack, and she relayed vital information to the ground crew. mark russell for control of united airlin

mayor edwin lee has ordered the flag to be displayed at half staff from 2:00 to 2:30 p.m. in hihonor. i know other colleagues will have words again. president chiu: without objection, in memoriam unanimously. supervisor campos: that loss has touched me very deeply as well. the whole community throughout san francisco and beyond is deeply troubled by his loss and inspired by his life work. someone i have known for almost 20 years in the city, someone i have always looked up to the someone who has been part of the good fight for the latino community, the immigrant community, housing rights, and housing justice. he has meant so much to so many people. he struggled for over seven years against cancer. his perseverance was inspiring. how quick it was, his endurance of cancer -- he is survived beyond what anyone expected of him. the great community he had around him is emblematic. his partner has such incredible spirit as well. that gave him a lot of sustenance and a lot of community to help keep him going. his daughter is a very beautiful young girl. my thoughts go out to the f
