officials with eglin air force base briefing reporters on the latest.et's listen in. >> the air crew still on site i was told we had an air craft down with 11 souls on board and they were asking for our assistance. at that point we initiated search and rescue operations requesting boats from local fire departments, coast guard midbay fish and wildlife assets were requested. understand it is about 11:30 going on midnight. the conditions out there were very, very dense fog. boats that did get on scene could not see. they were probably travelling about less than five miles per hour out there afraid to run into each other and any hazards that might be out there. what they were doing at that point was looking for survivors that may have been in the water. those operations continued through the night. i had requested additional assets to come in from the coast guard boats with side scan sonar and we had limited assets at that point. late yesterday we were searching out on the surface and responding to reports of debris washing up on the north side of the bay.
