>> north of el reno, the tornado track is actually north of el reno. it was on the ground from the southwest portion of canadian county, traveled to the southeast of calumet to the north side of el reno and then tracked to the northeast side of canadian county and going through the city of piedmont. we've got two confirmed fatalities at this point. however, the news has been reporting as many as four. that has not been confirmed to me as of yet. we've got numerous injuries. we've got a lot of structures that are completely destroyed. and right now we're in the process of doing some damage assessments and we've got our fire departments out doing some search and rescues oon some of those homes that were hit and destroyed, with the possibility that we've got some people that may still be in a storm shelter with debris over top of it. we're going to concentrate our efforts in trying to locate those. you know, jerry, with so many tornadoes breaking out all over the place, are you getting any warning, or does it almost seem haphazard the way they're landing

one just to the west of el reno into oklahoma. that's just a suburb of oklahoma city and on toward guthrie. tornado emergency down near norman, oklahoma and more with a big tornado on the ground and another one down near washington. that tornado has been on the ground for a while. it is going to be one long night, because it is certainly not over, and in fact, with the heat of the day just now being 6:00 central time, it is just getting going for places east of i-35 into tulsa and eventually, yes, that word joplin right there, as the weather just rakes across oklahoma and into the eastern sections of oklahoma county and into oklahoma city. that's where the humidity is even higher. that could make the storms get a little stronger. if they stay together as individual supercell tornadoes, there will be -- there's one, two, see how they're all separate? if they all line up, they will fight for the energy and there won't be as many big tornadoes, but we know there have been fatalities today and there continue to be fatalities tonight a

the one up near guthrie is much smaller than it was before when it moved over el reno and caused somehere. we certainly have a tornado on this cell that is very close to the south side of oklahoma city, and a tornado emergency, which means a tornado, large tornado, has been spotted, and it is moving into your town. that would be newcastle and moore. as this hook right there. there's the debris from the tornado that's on the ground. we've never talked about this in years past because we really, truly haven't had such good doppler radar. and we haven't had such big tornadoes. if a tornado is on the ground, wolf, it spins up, and it picks up things. picks up shingles and boards and everything else and parts of cars. that debris gets up into the cloud. well, the radar beam actually can see boards a lot better than it can see small rain drops. so when you see a big bright spot right there over newcastle, that's actually parts of the ground. that's trees and roots and that's singles in the air that the radar is picking up. it's called a debris ball because it looks like a ball. but the debr

which i would love to give you -- i hope you can get some video of this, that was on the west side of el renonadian county, west side of oklahoma city, and at that one point, i lost a side rearview mirror or a side mirror off my car and we were within a couple hundred yards when it was nearly about three quarters of a mile wide tornado when it sat down southwest of oklahoma city. an incredible storm. it goes back to what we just witnessed in joplin, missouri, the deep south and april 27th, and you've got to go back to the last time we had an event like this in oklahoma city, may 3rd of 1999. but the tornadoes were violent, long-tracking tornadoes, absolutely amazing. and these storms just went up hard, they were turning and rotating from start to finish, and they were killer tornados in oklahoma. >> and to get that close, what does it actually feel like? people talk about a pressure change? >> right, you know, there is, if you're really close. you know, you often hear the noise that it sounds like. if you're really close, it sounds like a -- we're close to the air force base, so we hear jets

i want to show you this one graphic that's kind of interesting, out of el reno to the west of oklahomaphic of the wind speed and there's time at the bottom. notice the wind speeds go from about 20 miles per hour to 150-mile-an-hour wind gusts. pressure at about 950 millibami. you think that tornado was passing over that site, you better believe it. let's talk about what's going to be happening later today and now. we have some thunderstorm warnings in effect around the st. louis area, but as of now, no tornado warnings are in effect. i haven't been able to say that in a couple days, it seems. tornado watch extended to the east of st. louis. notice the pinwheeling of the storm. it's slowly pushing to the east. this orange or red box there, from indianapolis to little rock and memphis, moderate risk of seeing severe weather through tonight. a good chance as the atmosphere gets cooking we start to see more thunderstorms that could produce tornadoes throughout the day today. as this thing pushes to the east we're not done with it yet. >> it's unfortunate. i mean we want to hear things are
