joining me now is elaine garzarelli. welcome back to the show. i don't know if we can get the retail sales chart back up. the retail sales numbers came in pretty disappointing and actually core retail sales feeds into gdp have fallen basically really the last four or five months. elaine, a, does that puncture a hole in the economic recovery story? >> not at all. as a matter of fact, that's one of my favorite sectors at this point. you know, consumer net wealth is up 6% since the stock market bottom. and consumers are getting a lot more interested in purchasing. the major thing that i see is the household formation data, through 2015 is going to be very strong because of demographics. the 20 to 29-year-old age group is really growing substantially. and that -- the same thing happened in 1983 when consumption appeared to be growing very slowly. >> we had a lot of job creation from 1983, 1984. even i'm optimistic about 2% to 3% growth in the next two or three-quarters. i acknowledge to you that jobs are the achilles heel to the income story. i worry

elaine, what are people expecting to see during the swearing-in ceremony? this is the first time we'll be able to have media cameras in the room. >> reporter: yeah, it's going to be fasten aitding to watch all this but quick. we're expecting a very brief ceremony, first of all, when this takes place in about an hour or sorry, as you mentioned. first up, 40 45 minutes or so, a private swearing-in ceremony. this is going to be the swearing-in ceremony that uses the constitutional oath, something required under the u.s. constitution. then the judge will take a second oath at about 11:00 a.m., the one required under federal law. it's just a few lines long, and during that, the judge will pledge to administer justice impartially, looking on will be judge sonia sotomayor's mother, selena, as well as her brother juan and we're told that they will actually hold the sotomayor family bible during that public swearing-in ceremony. we are expecting it will go by very fast. not more than a few minutes long as best. >> so the president won't be there this morning for thi
