elaine quijano, cbs news, boston. >> pelley: and that's the cbs evening news tonight. from all of us at cbs news >>> live from the cbs bay area studios. this is kpix 5 news. >>> breaking news right now a busy south bay freeway is closed because of a fatal crash. >> let's get back to allen martin who has the details and the impact on tonight's commute. >> reporter: it's a bad one, ken, liz. chp says one person was pronounced dead at the scene. the crash happened in cupertino. the crash happened about 3:30. this is the residual effect. it is on the northbound side of 85. live pictures now from chopper 5. we're told at least those two vehicles involved, they collided on the highway. two vehicles overturned. one involving a jeep. let's see just how heavily damaged the vehicles are as we see the back up. as i said, the residual effect of the commute is going to be incredible because they are forcing traffic off the northbound section. but that's the southbound side. it is having an effect of people stopping to look what happened. one person is confirmed dead at the scene. v
