i'm elaine quijano in new york. new at six: a city leader lashes out at the >>> if they cannot do with an issue like this, we are in big trouble. >>> a city leader lashes out at the san francisco fire department after massive blaze gusts a building in north beach.>>> investigators in san francisco are working to figure out the cause of a fire. the flames erupted before 7:30 pm last night on union street. it took 140 firefighters nearly 4 hours to get it under control. in the end, five businesses were wiped out and most of the building guided. one san francisco city supervisor says the fire department did not do a good enough job responding to the blaze. kpix 5 katie nielsen tells us that he is calling for the fire chief to resign. >> reporter: the city supervisor for this area aaron paxton says he was eating dinner in the area last night when the fire started. he criticized the fire department saying they did not respond fire -- fast enough, tooth locating water on the fire, and did not put the fire out fast enough.
