she's interviewed by politico's congressional editor elana schor. >> host: thank you so much for joining me, senator, to discuss your book. >> guest: thanks for having me on. i'm very excited to be here. >> host: i wanted to start, you know, your entire life story has so many emotional moments. as a congressional editor though, on a lighter note, i loved the portion of your book where you say people tell me that i'm the first senator to have a baby while in office. no, i'm the first senator to give birth in office. [laughter] >> guest: it tells you when the average age is something like 70, it's hard for a senator to give birth. we need more younger senators and more women senators. >> host: absolutely. so, you, the passages in the book on this are fantastic, but i'm hoping you and i can have a candid conversation about what that was like on a personal level. we all know, us more than others, the senate is a very tradition-bound institution. how awkward was that talking through, you know, i'm not going -- i think you actually used the phrase without a breast on the senate floor.
