let's go to eleni. what does all of this mean for them? >> exactly. i mean this intensified ground operation we saw overnight into gaza raises so many questions about the safety of the hostages and then the impact it will have on the negotiations as well as the mediation talks that have been predominantly led by qatar. now, diplomatic sources tell us yesterday that there was an important breakthrough, creating a bit of optimism that there could be a number of hostages released. there was momentum that was built. what we saw was conversations that had been happened behind closed doors to get more hostages out. over the past week, we saw american hostages released. that alsco incited with a bit more calm on the ground as well. you'll remember that the u.s. had requested the israeli forces to hold off on ground invasions while these negotiations were occurring and also for a sense of readiness. now, the idf yesterday said that we should ignore the rumors that there could be a number of hostages released, saying they put them down to psychological terror.
