as we take a look bemind me there is an elevator there. that is not the elevator in question. it is located down the escalator here. we walked down a couple minutes ago and saw the elevator boarded up. this all unfolded just after 9:30 last night. police and fire crews responded to reports of a person stuck in san elevator shaft. the witness tell police he was going from the muni level up a floor when he heard the most awful sound. >> as the elevator moved i heard a noise and a scream and the elevator stalled before it reached the con v. level. and that is how he was aware that somebody was trapped outside of the elevator car. >> reporter: police did find bedding and personal belongings on top of the elevator car and thigh believe the man was homeless and had been sleeping there and slipped off into the shaft and crushed. there is a video camera that we noticed right outside the elevator that might provide authorities with clues on how he got in and how long he had been there. coming up we'll tell you what a homeless man we spoke to this morning had to say about this gruesome
