i want to bring in cnn global affairs correspondent elise labott. what do we know about americans and there are many of them working in and around the capital there of dhaka? >> reporter: that's right, jim. not just american personnel, but aid workers. a lot of aid workers there. all personnel from the embassy has been accounted for. right now the embassy is working to see if u.s. citizens or staff is inside. this is a place frequented by foreigners. the embassy has what they call a warden system reaching out by email and text to americans living in the city and urging them to check in with the embassy and their families and you remember earlier this day when that shooting happened the embassy issued a shelter in place order not only for personnel, but all americans in the area and we've been listening to these guests sheltering in place and that cafe very close to a diplomatic corridor where ex-pats and workers are living. >> and where they have felt safe. elise, has the u.s. issued any warning to travelers or to its staff or other americans living

barbara starr and elise labott joining us.ra, will they receive security briefings following these conventions? >> the answer, wolf, is yes, the u.s. intelligence officer familiar with all this says as soon as hillary clinton formally become it is nominee tonight, they will then reach out to both camps and offer what is expected which is classified intelligence briefings. those briefings could start as soon as next week, as soon as the arrangements are made, a secure government facility is identified that both candidates can go to and receive these briefings. this is standard practice. despite all the political rhetoric, the republicans saying clinton shouldn't get the briefings because of her e-mail situation. the democrats saying trump shouldn't get the briefings because of some of his statements, being too cozy with the russians. the director of national intelligence james clapper will follow past practice. what will the briefings include? they will be classified. they will talk the latest about worldwide threats, the chall
