many still see things in black and white color was not an issue with this family when they adopted eliza we were much more interested in having you know getting a child we're just very that was our primary focus we really weren't interested too much of what the child looked like of little you know why is one of very few black children in america adopted by a white family a study carried out by a group of economists suggest that african-american babies are five times less likely to be adopted then children have any other race some say one reason for this is misrepresentation of the black community in the media when you see things on television and you often see our children portrayed in a very negative way well that has a connotation for individuals that may be interested in adopting and while we have come a long ways in this country racism is still prevalent sanders says families need to be prepared before they decide to adopt a child of color and once a child goes into african-american child goes into a family that is caucasian that family is no longer caucasian that family becomes a fa

people who know eliza say she has a short fuse and her stepdaughter usually wore the brunt of her nastyemper. she was charged with obstruction of justice. she is accused of using a fake ransom note to try to throw investigators off the trail of 10-year-old zara baker. police continued to look for the child in a wooded area where her father works. at this point, she is just a person of interest. police say they can't find anyone who has seen the child alive in the last month. >>> a woman says she got a call from the man she turned in. and while he was in the car, he read the woman's information on a deputy's computer screen that was in the front seat and memorized that information. police are warning officers to keep their computers closed. >>> a driver dies while working in a watering tape. they had been working in the tank. oxygen was sent down to the bottom. and a dive team tried to rescue him. when they reached the bottom, they discovered the man unresponsive. >>> a man is rescued after he sips from his harness and gets swept away from the sewer. the worker was discovered nearly a mi

so there was a long period of time when you didn't see zahra when eliza baker may have been home withppened, early saturday morning, 5:00, 5:30, firefighters are called to your house? >> yes, sir. >> you didn't check on zahra then? >> no. i was a big panic because we had the fire in the yard and i was talking to investigators in the backyard. >> so you went back to sleep. then you left the house around 11:00 or noon saturday. you got back around 2:00 p.m., and that's when you reported that zahra was missing? >> yes, sir. >> that's the first time you that believe that she was gone? >> yeah, i was -- i came back from looking at a job and started some work in the yard, and her mother came out and started screaming that zahra was missing. >> what did she tell you? what did she say had happened? what did she know? >> she didn't know very much. she came out crying and panicking, telling me zahra was gone. i went inside, searched the house. started searching around the block. called the police. >> chief, let me just ask you another question. you've been checking surveillance tapes in the nei
