this is a sample of elizabeth barrett rounding off material.he prepared for the printer in order to publish the sonnets in 1850. inside are her handwritten sonnets. the interesting story about the sonnets for the portuguese -- they were written as love sonnets from elizabeth to robert and done during their courtship 1845-1846, when they were published in 1850, elizabeth had given the poems to browning in 1849 and he thought they were some of the most dutiful sonnets he'd ever read and thought they should be published. she prepared a set for the printer and they called them sonnets from the portuguese as a fact thatling the they were love sonnets from her to him. she did call him my little portuguese as a pet name. she was interested in a portuguese poet, so sonnets from the portuguese, they saw it that perhaps people would think a word translations from a portuguese poet. they were trying to fail it, but they were published in the back of elizabeth poems of 1850, so it did not take the public on to realize they were love sonnets from elizabeth
