elizabeth warren at 8% and pete buttigieg at 3%. >> that's a number that elizabeth warren has been wellfrom day one. you know, you saw her even before she announced giving a big speech at a historically black college in baltimore where she laid out some of the themes about housing, her opposition, and her understanding of red lin lining and the effect that's had on black communities. she's consistently been hammering that message again and again and again before white and black audiences quite frankly. but you haven't seen it move the needle yet. and i know that they've also -- the campaign has worked hard with black influencers. in that area, particularly younger female black influencers, you've seen them change their minds a little bit. you've seen them come along, people who were suspicious of her in the past, on twitter saying good things about her. for that to translate to actual numbers, you're absolutely right. that's a difficult number for her. i will also say, you know, with south carolina, which is, of course, the forth in this first of four primaries, i've gone there with her

like last night, too, elizabeth warren or bernie sanders.nk, you know, one of the things i took from last night is why it's so important that we whittle this field down. we have, as i said, we have this ironic situation where unpopular positions were articulated much more strongly than popular positions. and what i want to see now is on stage bernie sanders and elizabeth warren go toe to toe with the people who aren't for their version of medicare for all, joe biden and -- rest of the field. i think tonight you're going to see nine candidates who don't believe in the sanders or warren version, and the guy defending sanders and warren is bill de blasio. and he's not a very popular guy. so it's going to be a very, very different thing. and so i want to see them together. >> i'm so fascinated by the klobuchar performance last night. she had this burst of energy when she first announced because people saw her as, you know, potentially being able to win the moderate vote in a way that wouldn't just be for joe biden. that this space isn't just for

looks like elizabeth warren really outperformed everybody. at the same time, we'll see what tonight brings, which is going to be a much more diverse field. they'll have the benefit of watching last night's debate and having a little bit more time to prepare for some of the difficult answers. but biden is standing there in the middle where bullock is. you can't have both of them. >> does last night's debate change the stakes for joe biden in tonight's debate? >> actually, i think at the beginning of the debate, joe biden is going to have somewhat of an advantage because i do think even as a kamala harris supporter, the biggest bulls-eye on her back is health care. we saw there was 35 minutes dedicated to health care last night. it doesn't give you an opportunity just to give a little flippant answer and move on. she's going to have to be firm in that answer, stick to it, and stand her ground in that answer. so i do think she'll be okay taking attacks from the senator, but she's going to have to do that. the question about joe biden is two thin

and that person is elizabeth warren. elizabeth warren has grown steadily over time. and she has increased her share of the vote among many different parts of the democratic coalition. and a long-term, slow steady climb is a better indicator of success than sugar high bump in the polls after the debate. moments like that can be helpful, we saw that in the last debate. but i'm interesting to see if people are going to pay attention to elizabeth warren tonight and attack her to criticize her. she's a tough person to come at because she won -- is she is st substantive, she has a policy and has she has a message. having a message is defense, offense, everything at once. she's a woman in the democratic primary, she's increasingly be loved. it's difficult to criticize her. bernie sanders has said he's not going to say anything. but she's pulling support from a variety of different candidates, including joe bide ebb, bernie sanders and kamala harris. it's going to be interesting to see as she climbs in the polls tonight. >> she's the only serious democrat running for preside
