democratic senator from massachusetts, elizabeth warren. senator, let's i guess, start with in this new congress, this 33 page letter that you wrote to secretary of defense nominee pete hegseth, previewing more than 70 questions, you and the democratic party have for him for his confirmation hearing scheduled for next week. there's a lot of them. if anybody's been watching the news about pete hegseth, they're probably familiar with a number of the subjects, whether it has to do with his management of some veterans groups, allegations of alcohol abuse, allegations of sexual harassment. et cetera. et cetera. is there is there a sense? there are so many? are there 1 or 2 that you want americans? i realize they're all important. they're all important. they're all important. but but but if is there 1 or 2, you really want people to pay attention to? yeah. >> so let's drill down on this. keep in mind we're talking about someone who will have control of a budget that's about $850 billion. biggest budget in the federal government, about 3.5 million

for example, senator mazie hirono from hawaii, elizabeth warren from massachusetts, tammy duckworth from herself was injured in combat. they have the right people to deliver that message. whether it's going to make a difference at this point is unclear, but they think that tomorrow is one of those rare confirmation hearings that could actually matter, where the responses from pete hegseth and in return from republicans both on and off the committee could make a difference for his confirmation prospects. republicans on the armed services committee have already noticed a vote -- a committee vote on his nomination for next monday, which is inauguration day, at around 5 p.m. it will be members only, limited staff allowed in the room. that will be presumably where they vote on hegseth's nomination to advance it to the senate floor. based on the composition of the armed services committee on the gop side, i don't anticipate any no votes there, so he will be fine to advance out of committee. the republicans can lose no more than three votes so there's a number of people we will be watching for.
