and things cooler on the boardwalk. 85 on the board now in elkton. 88 in westminster and bel air. 85 in kent island and annapolis. and 84 in rock hall. winds have been primarily coming in from the south and east. we have high pressure that is moving across the region. and that high is kind of pulling things in from the south and east. that high is going to continue to push off to our east. and itself asit does, it's going to allow for warmer air. but what we're watching here is the one dynamic that has been dominating our forecast. it's the front that pushed across the region that pushed all that really hot, humid air out of here. several days ago now. it is stalled to our south. it is close enough, however, that it is allowing for some cloud cover to be pushed up into our region. all of the clouds we have now are the result of that front. the high pressure is punish pushing in, dryer air. and that's coming in from the north primarily. but that high is going to continue to push off to our east. as it does, it is the clockwise flow around that high. going to allow for temperatures to

a few hours ago, the humidity really wasn't all that intense. 98 now, here. 98 in washington. 86, elkton. 82 in ocean city. the 98, with a dew point of 63. when you combine those two, it feels like 100 on your skip. 100 in cumberland. and that's a mistake in easton. unfortunately, did not report. so their computer just went nuts. 89 in ocean city. now, tomorrow, we won't have heat indexes that high. but we will have heat indexes, probably around 110 in the afternoon. that's why tomorrow afternoon, tomorrow night, for the -- for most of the region, an excessive heat warning will be going into effect. tim in the lovely inner harbor there. >> we have been talking about this july heat wave. by definition, strictly by definition, a heat wave is a prolonged today period of time, with temperatures well above the normal high. let's take you right on back to sunday. the first of the month. july 1st. we got to 97 degrees on sunday. and in perspective, keep in mind, our normal high for this day and this week has been 87. we got to 97 sunday. 94 on monday. we hit nex on tuesday -- 96 on tuesday. 97

that's at the airport. 88 in elkton. behind those storms, it's dropped into the 70s already. right now, locally, low to mid90s. a very warm, humid atmosphere. just ripe for storms. a severe thunderstorm watch in effect until 1:00 a.m. much of southern p.a. southwest winds now. any of those thunderstorms could have wind gusts in excess of 58 miles per hour. particularly across northern maryland and far western maryland later tonight. 8:00, maybe 9:00, 10:00 tonight. later on, it's a possibility of even more activity. because stuff is still developing in ohio that may across the mountains if it survives. we could still see some activities after 12:00, or 1:00, 2:00 in the morning. you can see the line through jersey. it's beginning to break up. but they've had a lot of reports of wind damage, trees downed. power outages in northern and central p.a. and hail, too. this batch here. may just pass to our south. but certainly the possibility of very strong activity. tonight, and again tomorrow. with that front kind of hanging through the area. again a chance of more scattered shower

they had rain. 85 up in elkton. locally. temperatures in the mid-80s as you can see. and they'll probably drop into the upper 60s, low 70s. southeast winds now. off the ocean continue to keep us from getting a super hot temperature. but there is a front to the west that will help enhance our scattered shower activity. and behind that front, we're going to see more of a southwest breeze. i think temperatures by thursday and friday and saturday could be as high as 91, 92. maybe 93 degrees. so it will get above average. scattered storms to the west. some of this might make it over the mountains later tonight. if you don't get anything in the next hour or two, later tonight, still might see more activity as that front approaches from the west. kind of weak. few areas of showers. but looks like it might dry out and get a little warmer by thursday and friday. southwest winds on the bay. bay temp around 82 still. tonight, scattered storms and even activity coming in late tonight. otherwise, patchy fog with good rain. 70, up to 89 tomorrow. a little warmer than today with aga
