despite being wounded, second lieutenant ellers carried another wounded rifleman to safety. even after he was treated, he refused to be evacuated so that he could return to leading his squad. it's for his display of indomitable currently that i am so proud to honor and remember the actions of second lieutenant walter david ellers. mr. davis: mr. speaker, i rise on behalf of my colleague from the great state of oregon, mr. walden, and ask that this be submitted for the record. on behalf of him. to honor technician fifth grade robert dale maxwell of the united states army. technician fifth grade maxwell was in third infantry division and was awarded the medal of honor for supreme bravery in action on september 7, 1944, in france. technician fifth grade maxwell and three others armed only with 45-caliber sidearms defended the battalion headquarters against an overwhelming onslaught against an enemy platoon. he fought off the advancing enemy and inspired his fellow soldiers to continue. when an enemy hand grenade landed among the squad, mr. maxwell unhesitatingly hurled himself
