eliott rodriguez is there live and he joins us now, elliot? >> reporter: rick, thank you very much. president obama has spent 24 hours here in cuba and much of that time has been spent with the leader raul castro. during that time together, the president has not been menacing words on thorny issues. the day began with laying a wreath at this memorial as both of the cuban and u.s. national anthems were played. president obama then met face to face with raul castro. this met where the two men met about the progress of the relations and on bilateral work. they held a news conference and taking questions from the reporter. the president brought up the thorny issue of political reforms. >> what i have said to president castro is that we are moving forward and not looking back wards, that we don't view cuba as a threat to the united states, i hope that my visit here indicates the degree to which we are setting a new chapter in cuban and america relations, but as is true in countries around the world where we have normized relations, we will continue to stand up for basic principles that w
