elliott gotkine. anna: elliott is standing by. good to see you.rally warning right-wing voters that the left will win if they do not vote for him. is he under pressure? elliott: he is definitely under pressure. not just last night's rally, he made a last-minute decision to speak at. he has been giving interviews to israeli tv which he had refused to do until the last week. that famous and controversial trip to washington, d c to address both parties of congress warning against a bad deal and negotiations and restarting today over in switzerland. since then, the zionist union has been gathering momentum. according to a final opinion poll on friday the design is union could win with 26 seats and netanyahu's party could come out with 22. netanyahu talking about international conspiracies millions of dollars he talked about being finance from scandinavia and the united states in a desperate bid to unseat him, which will make territorial concessions. he has offered the financial ministerial [indiscernible] likely to win around 10 seats or so. that offe

elliott: that is right.voting began an hour ago in israel for the election of the 19th prime minister. they will stay until 10:00 p.m. after that, we will get exit polls which are a good indication of who has won the election and who are likely to be able to form a government, in terms of a coalition. the numbers have changed for netanyahu's party, which was leading in the last opinion poll and trailed by four seats. the constant has been more right-wing parties adding up to a greater number than the center and center-left parties. there seems to be more coalition partners for netanyahu. unlike in many countries, the leading party, the party that wins, does not automatically get tapped by the president to form the next government. he will look at the results, and the official results come out late thursday, and, after one more week after that the resident will decide, looking at the numbers, which party is most likely to form a governing coalition. it may appear to be the right wing. there are a lot who are

elliott: that is right. although netanyahu's, party which is a right-wing party which has been trailing in opinion polls, about 4 seats between that and opposition, zionist union. opinion polls one by natural right wing coalition for netanyahu and then the seats and potential allies. unlike of other countries, like greece for example where the biggest party always gets the first chance to try to form a governing coalition. in israel, the president with the final results are in, he will cap whoever wrote the shoulder he think is likely to form a new government. even if it netanyahu's party is the second biggest in parliament, he can end up being prime minister. it will not be the first time. two years ago the guy running on the -- she won the election. netanyahu could still become prime minister despite losing. jonathan: elliott, you get closer and closer and people start pulling got wild card. nasa developments overnight. -- massive developments overnight, what's the story? elliott: netanyahu trying to shore

elliott, let's start with you. give us the latest. elliott: the bombinb rg raids have continued into friday. they will continue until objectives have been met. they are not crystal clear exactly what the saudis are aiming to achieve. at first glance, it would appear that they want to bomb the sh iites rebels -- to get them back to the negotiating table. at the same time, the saudis seem to be determined to ensure that the houthis do not overrun yemen. they want to prop up the internationally recognized government and they also want to ensure the instability we have been seeing in yemen does not pull over the order into saudi arabia for the rest of the region. francine: tell us more about the contact with the un security council. elliott: we understand from two arab diplomats that feelers have been put out to the security council to look at the possibility of some kind of arms embargo on yemen. this would target weapons that may or may not, that maven destined for the rebel groups rather than security forces that are supportive of the

elliott joins us from tel aviv. elliott what is the most recent news overnight? beyond the alliance they have already established with some of their neighbors. elliott: the rates have continued on the rebel positions. things like places where weapons have been stored, antiaircraft guns. in terms of the actual mission, it is not clear cut in terms of when saudi arabia thinks it has done enough. they said they will continue bombing until they are satisfied. the advance of the rebels is the objective, marching on the southern port city of aden. they want to pop up the internationally recognized government. finally they want to prevent instability from yemen spelling over. or perhaps to the rest of the region. it is not going to be obvious when those objectives have been achieved. presumably, saudi arabia will be the one to decide when that has happened. that, or the possibility that some sort of political talks which could lead to some sort of agreement and cease-fire. manus: let's talk about the un's security council and the potential lobbying that has been underta

francine: elliott, thank you so much for the update. saudi arabia's action in yemen is pushing oil prices higher. yemen does not produce a lot of oil, but they are crucial in the region to get supplies in and out. >> there is a transport issue and a general concern about instability in the middle east. that is a concern whenever we have saudi arabia scrambling the jets. the oil market is going to pay attention to that. francine: what does it mean for the price of oil? >> we have seen no disruption to supplies. we are unlikely to see disruption to supplies. the market was very short. people are covering their shorts now. the fundamental problem of too much oil remains. they are meeting this weekend in switzerland to discuss the resolution on iran and that will certainly not help the oil market. francine: if you look at the factors involved i guess we don't know what the market is doing except swing from one to the other. is that fair? >> yes. the barrel increase in the u.s. continues to be a big overhang in the market. francine: thank yo

elliott joins us now. first off tell us about this quarter. how important is the oil trade because it is going to affect the markets? elliott: we have seen oil prices come down a little bit today after the large gains over the past few days. as far as yemen is concerned their number 39 and .2% of global production. you care about it for two reasons. they support saudi arabia and what is the fourth biggest chip point in the world. we are talking about the gateway which roughly translates to the gateway of anguish or tears because of the emotion that it used to induce to see men trying to go through that part of the world. we have about four defense of global trade. we are talking about 3.8 million barrels of oil a day. a lot coming from the arabian peninsula going up the the straight and the suez canal and onto europe. in terms of global trade, we are talking about 7% of maritime trade. betty: given that, what protection is there gekko military protection, to protect the ships in the gulf of aden? elliott: we know that the coalition is blockadi
