elliott is here in studio.oing to be doing more reporting for us on european technology companies, covering a big slice of what is happening out there that we don't normally talk about, but this week, we are focused on israel. techis a big israeli company that google bought. talk about the tech industry in israel. elliott: depending on who you talk to, more than 1000 israeli startups in the u.s., the majority of them in silicon valley. about 350, and then you got 300 in new york, about 100 or so in boston, med tech and biotech. we are talking about companies do, and also companies like we work. you could class that as an israeli startup. are to open in san francisco. emily: why is it that there is such a concentration of startups and hot up-and-coming tech companies in israel? what is it about the ecosystem? elliott: i don't want to go with the usual cliches. a lot of tech comes out of the military. a lot of them are from the elite units, and they go on and use a lot of data analysis. big data is a very big thi

elliott: we could.ship between israel and turkey has flourished despite political problems. reason whyue is a turkey has decided to try to have some kind of -- with israel. turkey gets more than half of russia.from israel is looking for export markets. acts finally getting its together with regards to some kind of outline of how the gas will be allowed to be exported. caveat, israel would love to export gas to turkey and to europe. they will discuss building a pipeline. if there is another war between israel and gaza, turkey might take exception to it. what is to stop turkey from switching off the pipeline between israel and turkey? reconciliation talks between the turkish and the greek are ongoing as well. a lot of possibilities. the gas issue and russian issue playing on the mind of politicians as they seek to restore diplomatic relations after five years. guy: a lot of moving parts. thank you. ukraine has not paid its russian debt. the feud could be heading for london. why london? we will find out wh

elliott: it does, anna. began toes from opec open and shake out these high-cost producers in the u.s. it did seem to be having an impact and we saw over the past year, over half of the rates in the u.s. being idled. .here was a surprise increase the u.s. deployed over 540. some say this is a blip. charts suggests things may have bottomed out in the u.s. global stockpiles are still rising at demand from china. then, you have got the u.s. lifting its 40 year moratorium on oil exports. it is not hard to see how there could be even more oil coming into the market, adding further to the supply glut and pressuring prices even more. anna: thank you, elliott. story.tick with the oil we had the chief energy analyst. great to see you. we have interesting comments coming from the iraqis and the aqataris. they are talking about not being pessimistic about prices. you got that message from both of them. what will opec do to change the amount of pessimism around oil prices? reporter: i don't think they can do very much. i

francine: elliott, thank you. for more, let's bring in kevin boscher.reat to have you on the program. when you look at the price of oil, it is extremely difficult to forecast. you say it is between $30 and $80 in the next six months. do you try and forecast it or take it with a pinch of salt? kevin: we try not to forecast it, but we have a firm view. we understand why the oil price has fallen as much as it has. we don't see that changing anytime soon. francine: saudi arabia not cutting, shale gas, extra production from russia. kevin: it is a number of things. the world is growing well below its trend. the demand in emerging markets has fallen substantially. it is also a function of increased efficiency from the fracking industry in the u.s. at anies can produce oil lower price and be profitable. francine: but it is not a global recession we are staring at. kevin: not yet, but the risks are increasing. if you look at the low oil price, continuation of weak growth, bond spreads widening again in the corporate space, low government bond yields and yield cu

john elliott will have the forecast in a moment. but first, new information on a sex assault in brooklyn over the weekend. police released video of the suspect. they say he followed a 20-year- old woman into an elevator at her coney island apartment billing sunday night. when she got off at her floor, he allegedly grabbed her and pulled a gun and dragged her into a stairwell, raped her and stole her cash and keys. he is also a suspect in another robbery about an hour later. >>> a driver was killed after slamming head on into an mta bus in queens. investigators say the driver veered on to oncoming traffic on union turnpike around 8:30 last night. his ford sedan collided with the bus. the 60-year-old man died at the the scene. the bus operator was taken to the hospital for treatment. and a passenger who was also hurt was treated at queens general hospital. east side as bricks came falling off of a 35 story build, landing on the street below. it happened last night. we're told crew were working on the facade of the building. first 1st

elliott joins us now.b producers meeting in cairo did not do much to suggest that prices were set to recover. they said quite a lot. the qat we had it from ari oil minister that we should not be too pessimistic. actionse one thing and are quite another and there are not any actions being taken by middle east producers. era producers met in cairo over the weekend. nothing is suggesting that there is any plan to reduce output to try to reduce the supply glut that is out there and thereby tried to help prices rise. they are at their lowest level in 11 years. there is some indication that some in the middle east might be throwing in the towel when it comes to trying to get prices to rise. the minister also said they were focused on cutting costs to it -- and not to leave themselves. rather than hoping for higher prices at the sales and. anna: in the u.s., producers have been adding to the supply got -- supply glut their. -- there. elliott: they were trying to shake out higher cost to producers. to suggestviden
