speaker, i'm honored now to yield one minute to the democratic leader, nancy elosi. ms. pelosi: thank you to the leader of our california democratic delegation, zoe lofgren, thank you for bringing us together for a very bittersweet circumstance. that is to say how proud we are to honor the leadership of two great giants of the congress, henry waxman and george miller, how sad we are that they are leaving us. i come to the floor, mr. speaker today to join in celebrating two of the most accomplished members of this great body. when i say most accomplished, i'm not just speaking in the context of the present congress. i'm talking about two of the most accomplished members of this great body of all time. a pair of californians with 80 years between them, 80 years of service in the house, retiring with an unparalleled record, certainly an unsurpassed record of legislative achievements to their name, congressman henry waxman and congressman george miller. i'm proud to do that as a californian and thank our chairwoman zoe lofgren again for this opportunity. as they depart for n

you were appointed by nancy .elosi is there a timeline to do much more be on this? >> i will tell you that when i was asked to serve on that committee, i gave it a lot of thought. when i agreed to it, we were given binders with all of the reports that have been generated . i have read through all of them. there is very little information . many were done in a very bipartisan way. benghazi was a series of unfortunate opportunistic events that piled on top of each other, equaling a tragedy. said ithe -- a chairman would rather ask a question twice than not ask it at all. the nine reports that we have at our disposal that have been generated about this topic answer every question more than twice or three times. i do not think there is a lot of factual information that is left to be found. i suspect that the point of the select committee on benghazi is not so much the factual record, but to try to use it as a -- tical message peace piece. unless something changes, i do not think there is much left. there are numerous committee reports with plenty of information. >> do y

like they were, like, nancy prksz elosi, the democratic leader and congressman steve israel who we had on the air. all of them and 130 other democrats. this wasn't the fringe of the democratic party. this was the leadership and most of the democratic party who all said no. and who said no against the wishes of their own white house. and no, the democrats who revolted, they didn't wib e win. they got enough that it passed. but it did fight. they did fight even against the wishes of their own white house because they disagreed with the white house on this. as a substantive matter of policy. a matter that they care a lot about, it turns out. i mean, on the right, there is sort of a permanent insurgency. increase their influence within their own party and, thereby, pretty much dragging all american politics to the right by just kind of being a constant insurgency. just for the sake of fighting. even when they know they can't win, they fight all of the time. they fight their own leadership. they gum up the works, they make a ton of noise and that's how they maintain their influence. they sa
