mayor emanuel is adding a little more muscle behind the push to bring the obama presidential library to chicago. the sun times reports the mayor sent a letter last month to the head of the foundation that will help pick the location for the library. in the letter, emanuel laid out details of a package of public and private economic help to build the library on the city's south side. he did not name a specific location for the facility, but promised to create a "local education zone" to provide programming to students of all ages. the mayor also promised to create a committee to improve transportation to the library. a huge new sculpture in long island, new york, has a lot of people talking. this aluminum statue called "walking figure" is the centerpiece of the business district in west hampton beach. but some people don't think it should be considered "art." it is supposed to illustrate a woman running into the future. the developer says they weren't trying to create a controversial piece of art, but they do welcome all the discussion. what you think? does it look like something made

emanuel says it is a tasteless intrusion on chicago's tasteful skyline. trump says it's no worse than the sign on the old sun-times building that used to occupy that space. the pool of candidates to replace eric cantor as house majority leader, has narrowed. congressman pete sessions from texas is dropping out of the race. sessions says running a proper campaign would have created division within the republican party. house majority whip, kevin mc- carthy, is the only declared candidate remaining. cantor decided to step down from the post next month, after losing the primary in virginia on tuesday. a vote on his replacement is set for next thursday. republican candidate for governor bruce rauner answered his critics with some concrete ideas on how to fix the state's finances... and ruffled some feathers in the process. while announcing a top ten list of ways to save a billion dollars, rauner was joined by some prairie chickens. the state spent 117-thousand dollars to bring some of the endangered birds from kansas. rauner called that an example of illinois

there is something quite interesting about the timing of mayor emanuel's endorsement.er all in 2008 he waited until june, five months before the general election, to endorse in the primary. so in the 2016 cycle, he's a full two years ahead of schedule. now in, 2008, at least when emanuel did decide to endorse, there were candidates to choose between. he had worked on the first clinton presidential campaign in 1992, first worked in the white house until early in the second term and was named to fannie mae's board of directors by president clinton before running for congress. and yet when it came to choosing between senator hillary clinton and senator barack obama, emanuel went with obama. and now the chicago mayor has added his name to a list of prominent democrats who choose not to endorse candidate hillary clinton -- or rather chose not to endorse hillary clinton in 2008 but are now endorsing noncandidate hillary clinton in 2014, well before they know who the other choices are or if she is even a choice herself. this is a list that includes current senator and former
