emily, what has michael cohen's life been like these past couple of weeks? >> it is a much quieter existence for him, both because he has had to stop talking after he pleaded guilty in august and talking to friends, associates, people who he had been speaking to, even in a run-up to what happened in august. there is a sense in the world around michael cohen that something was happening, that something serious is going on and people around him started talking about, well, he must be talking to robert mueller. as i reported today, that has been the case. it's unclear what those conversations have been like, how serious they are, how far down the road they have been. but this is a man who, i interviewed him last labor day weekend and to say that his life has turned in a stunning what i is such an under statement. this is someone who was out in the hamptons for the summer and he faced eight counts, he pleaded guilty to his family was in some sort of legal jeopardy that he, you know, tried to avoid it by pleading guilty, financially. he is incredibly squeezed and

what are you learning, emily, about what cohen has offered, and how much time he may be willing to spend or has spent with the mueller team? >> the nature of the conversations and what they have discussed is still unclear. the people who are familiar with the situation have expressed to me that michael cohen is an open book. he is no longer going to be protecting president trump. that is not in his interest at all anymore, and he wants to be as helpful to the special counsel's office as he can possibly be. now there is some questions about how helpful he can actually be. what he knows, what he witnessed, what he saw. but this is someone who has been incredibly close to the president in physical proximity, as well as the president's family members. he worked alongside don junior, ivanka and eric for more than a decade and alongside the president. we heard in a recording released earlier this summer the kinds of conversations he had with president trump where anything that michael cohen was doing, it seems like the president was aware of what he was doing. it seems from the nature of that

reports surfaced that michael cohen is also talking to and perhaps cooperating with robert mueller. sources confirmed "vanity fair," it's quote common knowledge. emilyane fox, you speak regularly with michael cohen or at least have spoken regularly with him. what's your reporting on the status of these conversations, and is it something where, you know -- i can't figure out yum watching kind of their public moves, are they desperately trying to get robert mueller to reach out and offer them a plea deal? does he have information that they really want? where does your reporting stand on this? >> as i reported last week it's really unclear what the status of these are. it's unclur if it's to reach a cooperation agreement, if he's to be before a grand jury. it's hard to state just how much michael cohen has been blinking that i'm open for business sign since about july. the president and michael cohen were engaged in somewhat over a fight over legal fees when it came to his case in the southern district in new york. and that was really the period of time where cohen decided, look, i'm done trying to protect this guy. this guy has done absolutely nothing
