kpix5's emily turner is live outside benioff children's hospital in oakland where she's being treated right now. emily? >> reporter: yeah. it's just such a heart breaking way to start the new year, although the good news in the situation is that she's still alive in stable condition, though she is still in critical condition at this hour tonight. there have been multiple people going in to see this little girl tonight. she's a 6-year-old. she was playing in a yard last night with her parents who were at a new year's eve party in a neighborhood in oakland. now we do know according to police that at some point before 2 a.m. she was hit by a stray bullet from celebratory shots just after the new year. her parents rushed her to the hospital and transferred her here to ucsf benioff children's hospital. police were notified when she went to the hospital and thanks to shot spotter technology that opd has, they were able to determine that it was, in fact, a celebratory gunshot when someone shot a gun up into the air that then came down and hit this poor 6-year-old in the head. >> we're just w
