now we turn to emma chandra in new york. emma: a mixed picture for the u.s. majors. the dow jones squeaking out again. the s&p 500 and the nasdaq both lower. they are swinging between gains and losses as the session has worn out. conflicting headlines about the trade, the reasons behind that, we heard from the white house that the delegation is coming to the white house to make a deal, but not long after we heard from china's minister of commerce that they would take all the necessary countermeasures should the u.s. raise tariffs on $200 billion of chinese goods as they had threatened to do on friday. let's take a look at the s&p 500. you can see we are still down. down more than 2% at the moment. yesterday0 closed 1.7% lower, and at its lowest during yesterday's session was down 2.4%, the second-biggest intraday loss since the end of december. we will all be looking at a return of volatility, up 50% over the course of this past three days. earnings news is still moving some individual names. a number of earnings losers. take a look at trip advisor, down 12%, falling
