emma goss joins us live from capitola. we've got rain now on top of those big waves. how does it look where you are? >> reporter: well, janelle, the rain's been coming down pretty steadily for the last several hours, so it's not a great time to be out on the roads. we're out on the capitola esplanade, which would normally be packed with people coming out for friday night dinner. but instead it's quiet. that's because public access to the esplanade has been roped off out of concern for this high surf event we're expecting in the morning. and businesses have also been taken out by the weather and the tide from yesterday. those monster waves yesterday pulled up the flooring of the sand bar, a popular bar and grill on the capitola esplanade. and new flooring is going in tonight though there is another high surf event expected tomorrow. >> the swell is not supposed to be nearly as big as it was on the day with the damage, but there will be high tides. so i would be silly to not be concerned. but i'm going to -- my friends are like, hey, let's not do this. could be damaged
