there was the emmett till antilynching act, which finally classified lynching as a federal crime. for marriage act, which codified and preserved america's same-sex marriages. there was even bipartisan agreement on a new provision in the government funding bill which reforms the electoral count act in order to help prevent another attempted coup like the one donald trump tried two years ago. now, this era, these two years of accomplishment will likely come to an end when republicans take control of the house in a few days. but it's worth taking note of what this president and congress were able to achieve in two short years and what it says about the nature of american politics at this moment. i'm joined by donna edwards who represented maryland's four congressional district. brian fallon is the executive director of demand justice. he previously has served as chief spokesperson for chuck schumer, and symone sanders, she previously served as senior adviser and chief spokesperson for vice president kamala harris. she worked on president biden's 2020 presidential campaign and bernie

. >> emmett was their youngest daughter. she was born in the civil war. came with her mother to austin to work in the school, and she became a teacher as a teenager. she was frail, evidently, not in great help, but there is this moment where she is in that health in the summer, so george says, we will take her on a long camping trip of about six weeks, so if she's in bad health, why is she not resting up? why are we taking her on an arduous trip up into the mountains, sleeping on the ground and all that? so my aunt, i asked my and, there's nothing, what do you think? she says, well, i just know what i heard, the family gossip that and emma had a romantic relationship with one of the black students at the school. of course, that could not happen, could not be allowed to happen. the crisis that george mentions, the point was to get her out of austin and break this. emma's extraordinary. she's the first richardson to earn a college degree at hamlet university. she becomes a teacher. she is as restless as her father, always moving from one place to the next.
