is there a plan that we want to get to a certain year to cover most of the city or the entire city? is the overall mission, long-term plan for the city and around this? >> there is a strong desire on the part of our agency to try to fill in about 300 or so under sections in the city without pedestrians signals. we are trying to establish a goal to figure out how many of these we can install in the next 20 to 30 years. but we do try to take advantage of paving projects like this one. this is a big opportunity for us to add 21 intersections. we would take a big bite out of the 300 or so locations in the city. we do try to prioritize them based on collisions, proximity to pedestrian generators, senior centers, schools, and we do try to prioritize them. those are some of the practices that we consider. supervisor avalos: you also have to do the work below the road before you are actually able to set up the poles, and will have audible countdowns and those type of the signals. is that correct? so you can put in new signals, but they will not necessarily have the below infrastructure, tha

legislation as a district-elected supervisors, even though this is legislation that impacts the entire cityn the future of health care in san francisco for many years to come. i think it is possible to do both. it is definitely possible. >> let's talk about budgets. the city is faced with tough budget decisions. including where to make cuts and whether or not to increase taxes. how will he make these tough choices -- will you make these tough choices? supervisor campos: the budget is the most important policy document that the city can pass. it reflects the priorities of city government. i believe we have to be creative in how we look at the issue of the budget. it is important for me that certain things happen. i think that public safety has to be a priority in the budget, the public safety cannot be compromised to save a few dollars. but i think the public safety goes beyond funding the police department and the fire department, as important as that is. it includes funding violence prevention programs, after- school programs so someone has -- and people have something to do after school,

supervisor of district 8, scott weiner doing a great job not only representing this district but the entire city. welcome to san francisco's largest transgender pride celebration of the year. one of the largest transevents anywhere on the planet earth. let me tell you, you looking fabulous. this is a wonderful community. one of my favorite events. been here every one of the nine years. we're going to have our 109 anniversary next year. let me just -- 10th anniversary next year. it has been a real honor, privilege and pleasure working with the transcommunity going back to my days on the board of supervisors when we formed the first transgender civil rights implementation task force from which came the first of its kind local ordinance making sure that there was equal access to the county health plan for our transgender employees of san francisco. when we got to sacramento, one of our first bills was to amend the california fair employment and housing act to include gender identity. so we have had an inclusive employment and housing nondiscrimination act here in california since 2003 and i'm very

we announced that the entire city family take time to think about whether the existing laws should apply to the new activity or whether we should create new policies and regulations that apply more appropriately to the activity. we look forward to tackling that with the working group going forward. >> how was the turnout? >> it was a pretty huge turnout. we had about 40 hosts from san francisco, probably more than that. many of them testified. it was an incredibly moving experience. i do not think i have seen a city hearing the was that emotional. people are using this income to pay property taxes if they own their home, pay off their mortgages, pay increasing rents. our cofounders could not afford their increasing rent so they blew up an air mattress in their living room and rented it out to make rent. this is incredibly important as a source of income for our hosts. if you are taxing at 15%, we need to do so thoughtfully. >> what was the treasurer's view? how is it different from yours? >> we do not know what the treasurer's view is. we would love to discuss this collaborative lee -- c

well as other local dollars to make sure that we have the depth and breadth of services that our entire city needs. our violence prevention funded programs are focused on six core areas. they are alternative education, secondary prevention, diversion, detention alternative, detention base, and after care and reentry. all of these areas are evidence based and have shown to have affected outcomes on reducing violence. as you know, we want more than just the 70 programs i mentioned. we have a whole cadre of programs that we find. and -- that we fund. and together, we're able to address violence prevention and help all of our young people move toward the goals that the department has of succeeding in school and being ready to learn. today's conversation is really about violence prevention and intervention work. the team and staff who are here today leads the oversight of the services that i just mentioned. and are assured that all of our funds are targeted, particularly to the high risk and at risk and in risk used between the ages of 10-25 years old. we strongly collaborate with our juvenile ju

i just think in general, this is a win for the entire city, and i look forward to supporting this on the november ballot with the recreation and parks bond. this will be a better place for everyone. the last thing, this is in companionship with the housing trust fund. $13 million of this gross receipts tax will go towards affordable housing. that means less people on our streets and in substandard housing. all of that is an incredibly important investment. all along with recapturing the redevelopment tax element that we put together in a housing trust fund that is also moving forward to the voters, so again, i am excited and proud to support this, and i just want to thank the leadership and all of the members of the coalition who made this happen. president chiu: supervisor cohen -- olague? supervisor olague: i want to add my support to this. they are coming together to really hold the bar at a certain level, and to the mayor's office for coming in meeting us half way, and the business community also for being able to work toward something that was agreeable to all, so i'd think this

when we talk about wine, we're really talking about the entire city because of those relationships. in this past year, with the assistance of sharon hewitt, we held a hearing early on on the impact of violence, the impact of young people growing up around violence. we had a steady to draw a nexus between performance in school ability to succeed as adults in life and the impact of living in these dramatic environments have on children. there's a lot of pst that occurs as a result of being surrounded by these traumas. also, we had a hearing recently on survivors and just the impact of living with this brief and we're learning a lot more about these issues from -- living with this brief and we're learning a lot more about these issues from the survivors on a daily basis. i'm hoping that we can definitely talk about it. there's always a need to talk about the criminal-justice peace, but -- criminal justice piece, but i think we can also include some measure of prevention. eventually, looking at the school district mental health resources been provided on site to the housing authority, r

there are 36 outreach workers and community responders for the entire city. again, they fluctuate on schedules. they have a regular schedule, but depending on the crisis, different shifts are connected. and there are at least two staff on an ongoing basis that are on a 24-hour response. for the referral directive -- this is the other layer that i mentioned earlier today are around the crn. the crn does not function alone. it relies on other agencies to do its work. the sfcrn understand they cannot do it all in terms of violence prevention. it is understood that it really targets street violence and it relies on other agencies that have case management experience and professionals on board that have that therapeutic profession to provide the case management and the referrals that the young people need. they also work closely with city partners listed above. and they work on trying to target those individuals that are either assigned under gane units, that are actually victims of street violence, or they simply try to work with different city partners that migh
