there is a new survey that shows overall workers are actually happier than you may think sharon eppersonharon. >> hi, seema americans in our latest work force survey say they are satisfied with their current job. the online poll was done april 3rd to 5th among nearly 6,000 workers. a solid majority, 73% say they are well paid and that moral at their company is excellent or good still, half of those say that they would be happier running their own business that compares to 44% who would refer a regular day job. now, pursuing their passion is the main reason for starting their own businesses, followed by being their own boss, making more money and deciding their own schedule but the timing may not be the best one in three americans think it's a worst time to start their own business right now compared to a year ago. and that's nearly double the percentage of those who say now is a better time not surprisingly workers who have thought about quitting their job in the last three months are more likely to say they would be happier running their own business compared to those who aren't thinkin

we have sharon epperson with answers on that. good morning. >> good morning. becky, about two-thirds of americans are deemed financially illiterate by some reports. many high schools around the country are working to change that. i visited classrooms in the past year and talked to students and watched financial education in action. 11th graders in queens new york are honing a business idea. for a competition for young entrepreneurs. in nashville, they are learning about classroom lessons to simulate the future career. these high school students are creating a budget for the first apartment. >> play a little "price is right." >> all investing through the education classes they are taking today. >> you need to do it when you grow up and get a job. you have to buy a car and house. >> the report finds the high school financial class is $100,000 per student. a benefit of saving regularly and reducing risk. >> when you look at what happens when the student does not get a financial class and don't understand credit scores and interest rates, they are not able to real

cnbc's senior personal finance correspondent sharon epperson joins us right now with some of the resultshi, becky. taking the pulse of their views about the economy, responses of those who were surveyed were mixed. while u.s. adults surveyed were pretty evenly split in their feelings about where the economy is heading, a majority of respondents in mexico, singapore and switzerland were optimistic. most adults surveyed in the uk, france, spain, germany and australia had a pessimistic outlook. this cnbc your money international financial securities survey was conducted by survey monkey min march. overall, a majority of those surveyed said they're stressed about their personal finances these days. inflation is the main source of their financial stress, more than their lack of savings, economy wide instability, aging or rising interest rates. as a result, in the u.s. and eight other countries, most respondents in the survey said beside their main job, they rely on their personal savings for financial security, more so than government assistance, a pension or retirement plan or investment inc
