their sophomore year eric and dylan started doing these pranks' but eric called them the mission to get the grandiose about everything. he saw them as a big thing where we are showing people how to operate. they were just shooting off firecrackers, windows, a gain houses, something not new and nasty like blue wing mailboxes shot and so forth. and what's interesting to me about the mission is to see the progression with eric going from the ample to a petty thief to felony theft to murder. he didn't just start out a mass murderer. he had his own gradual criminal progression where if he hadn't done something like colin it's pretty clear he would have become a career criminal of some sort. but the sadistic streak so he wanted to kill people for very simple reasons, for his own aggrandizement, and because he enjoyed it. he wanted to have fun. you know, i would say understanding a psychopath doesn't take a whole lot to understand what it is. it's a very simple complex. it's hard to believe that it's true that somebody will kill someone until he wanted to kill hundreds of people but will do th

i'm eric thomas. in the news this morning, a tough response from pg&e to demands it produced a missing gas pipeline safety document. state regulators asked for that after last fall deadly san bruno fire. pg&e now says the documents may never be found. that's not all they're saying. abc7's terry mcsweeney live at the san francisco offices of the state public utility commission. terry? >> pg&e is now saying that it is never going to find some of the documents about the older pipes. to test those pipes could make the pipes weaker than they are right now. take a look at video provided by pg&e about how those pipes would be tested by shooting water through them. utility says to properly test 700 miles of pipe is an expensive proposition. it plans to test 100 miles of pipe. that will cost between $100,000 and $500,000. that's per mile. pg&e says it would talk five years to do that testing. it would also weaken the lines because of the high pressure used in that testing. look at this video. truck loads of do
