eric fisher is our chief meteorologist at our cbs station in boston, wbz. eric, what's next? >> well, scott we've been watching the storms all day long, very early this morning. they rumbled through the chicago area, pretty dramatic video. a couple lightning strikes right on top of the willis tower towering over the chicago skyline there. the other threat from these storm, the humid july atmosphere heavy rain and flash flooding. we saw that in woodstock virginia. very quickly water stacking up and rolling through neighborhoods there. as we head into tonight watching a setup that has a lot of heat in the middle of the country. we have ridge-rubbing storms over the northern end of all that heat. a lot of severe wind likely in these storms as they move off toward the south and east. we have tornado watches that include chicago. severe thunderstorm watches further to the south and east. that will be the trend for these storms developing in illinois. they proved off to the south and east down into kentucky. tomorrow that threat will move further east. scott, all the while heat ind

meteorologist eric fisher of our boston station wbz says relief for folks in the east should be on the way. >>> we're seeing a lot of heat across the south over the last week plus and now the heat is on the move into the northeast. for wednesday and thursday, a hot midweek for the megapolis. also up and down from boston down to new york philly d.c., all seeing very hot temperatures into the 90s and rising humidity. the tough stuff is on the bottom where you have the high heat indices. some relief is on the way. cold front starts moving southward on wednesday that will start to bring some relief especially across missouri, kansas and driving southward for thursday. it will still be hot outside. temperature as few degrees cooler and humidity much lower. the heat started to move westward for the late week. you're starting to see the warmth across the west coast, central valley, kale all the way up to seattle. you could see record highs later this week and quite a few triple digits into the valleys. i'm arab i'm eric fisher for the cbs news. >>> the heat moving to the west will further com

eric fisher is our chief meteorologist at our chief cbs station in wbz in boston. eric, what's coming. >> the story this week is heat on the move. we'll start northeast. a lot of northeastern cities hasn't been too tough of a summer to take, very few 90 degree days. that will change in the week boston, new york, tacking on a couple as well as washington d.c. pittsburgh a couple of days of 90s before the cool air comes in. the sweltering heat has been in the middle of the nation. this is where we have excessive warnings, heat values. the system that created snow in wyoming and montana yesterday will help drive a cold front to the south, bring something relief tomorrow, more relief on thursday, cooler temperatures, but most notably lower humidity really taking down the heat index values. the same ridge creating all the heat moves to the west late week and, scott, triple digits moving to the west coast. we could see record highs and difficult conditions for people fighting wildfires. >> pelley: eric fischer, thanks. as eric mentioned there is no heat wave in the northe

talk more about it with former fbi special agent jonathan gill it isam and licensed psychologist eric fishern with a swastika flag. why would someone act out this way after getting into trouble for doing something illegal if you could try to get into his brain in terms of -- what's the real immessage here? >> this is somebody with probably a history of feeling alienated alienated. he had issues with his families with his community. he tried to potentially fit in in different situations. while we can look at mental health as a moderating factor this is somebody who seemed to feel a lot of anger, rage and hatred and acted on that. i look at the movie he went to. this is a movie where people were supposed to be happy and having fun and enjoying. he seemed to want to take the joy from others. even his daughter's wedding. going back to his family and the restraining order. i read it was because he had an issue with his daughter getting married to the man she was ep engaged to. >> and what we have learned about his purchase of the gun and the act that consequently happened here. what stands out to

the founder and president of the american islamic forum for democracy and licensed psychologist eric fisherou. one post complaining about life on earth and another urges people to follow his or theic islamic figures. what does this mean to you? >> i think the most important part is the part that he talked about wanting to establish islam on earth. basically it's a supremacist type mantra. at what point are we going to abandon this sort of symptomimymptomsymptomatic following of violent extremism. and begin to look at ideology. his blog clearly shows a supremacist mindset. if our homeland security was looking at dominant establishment of the islamic state just like the iranians or saudis, this doctrine is major. in the cold war, we had specialists looking at communism and soviet spremsy. . today we can't even talk about it because we're so focused about that last step. he had some violent streaks with mma and his dui. but the bottom line is he was part of islamic extremism. he was not omnly a terrorist, but was part of a global war. until we engage in this we're going to continue this whack
