meteorologist eric fisher of our cbs station wbz says erika is on track to menace florida and southeast. >> we continue to watch erika's progress. already brought flooding rain into the leeward islands. it continues to work its way west as we head through the 234ek9 to 36 hours. tropical storms out for puerto rico, the dominican republic, as well as the turks and caicos and now also parts of the bahamas. here's a look at the track. that could actually really bring down the intensity of the storm. very mountainous terrain, tends to destroy tropical systems if they go right over the top of it but it could reorganize it and takes a packet right up the eastern coast of florida and the southeastern coast of the united states. at that point it could be a hurricane, perhaps a stronger hurricane if it can survive that trip. to the mountainous terrain of hispaniola. a lot of very warm water here, well up into the 80s. in terms of the steering currents, it's parallel to the coast so it could be several days before it tracks up florida and any of those states. we'll be monitoring erika carefully o

eric fisher is chief meteorologist at our cbs station in boston, wbz. eric?>> maurice, good evening. erika is a disorganized tropical storm but it doesn't take a lot when you have the tropical rain to cause a lot of issues. as you saw in the leeward islands earlier today, tropical storm warnings continued there. puerto rico, the northern shores of the dominican republic, and tropical storm watches now out for the turks and caicos. this is the track as we head through the next few days. high certainty here, it should cross puerto rico tonight, remain a tropical storm as it moves off to the north and west. it's when it arrives in the bahamas this weekend that we start to see some uncertainty in the track. that's why you see the track cone expanding at this point. we head towards the beginning of the week it's expected to be a category 1 hurricane at least off the shore of florida and then drift its way northward as we head into the week. once it gets to the bahamas it encounters very warm waters. that is fuel for tropical systems and wind shear will die down. t

eric. yesterday, william dudley decided to come out saying that a september increase had grown less compelling. we are going to see what stanley fisherays on saturday. is the fed shifting here? what does that mean for the markets? >> i think the fed is shifting. dudley, being the obvious example of that but not the only example, will see what jackson hole has to say. i can't imagine it will be all that different in the sense that there have been two new uncertainties introduced, china, the extent of the weakness, not just in chinese markets but economically and question over how the movements will affect the real economy. stock market moves aren't all that relevant. the fact that gdp recently was quite good in terms of the revision, helps as well. it is not inconceivable that the world congeals in a way that allows a hike. they are probably thinking it is a 25%, 30% probability for september. >> do you see these moves in the market? the global economy is there or is there a disconnect between how the market is reacting very emotionally to what we are actually seeing? >> i think there is a disconnect. certainly, in the domestic u.s. s
