i see supervisor layoffs for being here and supervisor eric mar.rvisors who i know value our communities very strongly. this is the 9th annual history filipino history month celebration here and i want to say that as much of the act ledge that hi draw has heaped on me i really have a job that i feel is important not just managing the city or helping businesses create jobs or trying to get the warriors arena built or all the wonderful things i think one of the most important things we can do is make sure that this city recognize its own history, a history of immigrant. a history of people who come to this country seeking a better life and making it so. it isn't just those individuals who make the headlines or become elected officials, it's also those who toil for years who lived in the working class neighborhoods of san francisco who helped us because history will teach us this. filipino community helped us build the golden gate bridge and when we looking that it's not just the named engineers whether it's the rail yards or the bridges are simply bu

to thank vice chair scott wiener for your partnership and leadership on transportation issues and eric mar for plans and programs and on behalf of my colleagues i wish to thank all of our aids to help with the large work we have here and the transportation staff. during the selection process -- i would like to thank you maria for your great work keeping the organization running smoothly and helped to keep all of our projects on track during the transition period. as you know colleagues after a vetting process we appointed tilly cheng to her executive director position. and i look forward to discussing later on our agenda. 2013 also was a big year for local and regional transportation planning with the adoption of plan bay area the first regional plan to respond to statewide policy and investment policies that tie trapgs transportation to housing goals. last month brought conclusion of the mayor's task force report and much needed revenues for transportation and we'll continue to discuss and shape as we move into the new year and on today's agenda is the adoption of the san francisco transp

so my last announcement is a quick one 2 weeks ago supervisor eric mar wants to hold a hearing in front of the board of supervisors that hearing hasn't been scheduled with a fixed date yet right now our best estimate is in january but i am prepared to give you updates as its announces so that you will know and have the opportunity to come. and many people might not be aware that the civil service submission here in san francisco has a provision called civil service commission rule 115. the program defines an alternative process through which individuals with severe disabilities can join the city's permanent workforce without going through the standard civil service examination process and some of you may or may not be aware that actually i became disabled on the job working for the city and county of san francisco 20 years ago and this civil service rule was the mechanism that allowed me to make my transition to my new job as a building inspect tore so the city's efforts to hire and retain people with disabilities and an opportunity to encourage the city to do more in that area and as s

supervisor eric mar: thank you. i would like to thank you for supporting the water campaign. this is a very important part of our city to improve our environmental food ship and still providing healthy food choices to our district. i have always my "i love san francisco water" that's helped me be a better person. the president chiu's effort is a strong follow up to a hearing we had a few months back about the city doing most to promote tap water in hetch hetchy to promote in other facilities throughout our communities. i'm looking forward to working to ensure that everyone has access to water from students in the public schools to concert goers in the state parks. i want to thank mayor lee for joining us today and his commitment to help us raise the city's minimum wage and especially for many of our community to raise the dialogue whether $15 is enough. i hope that those hopefully would agree that our current money wage is not up to pace with our cost of livingston. -- living wage. the minimum wage is a key struggle to improve the situation for many in our communities. the ma
