but ktvu's eric rasmussen is here now to explain how a accident involving a girl from oakland highlights a problem that doesn't get a lot of attention. >> reporter: we are talking about a test that 1-10 people will get in the u.s. this year. there is no question mri accidents are rare but when they do happen they can be devastating and some say accidents involving mris are on the rise. they are suing children's hospital in oakland after she was burned during a mri in november. it alleges she had already received other tests which hospital technicians placed her in an mri machine failing to removing the medal leaves. she was 17 at the time says she was left in the machine, screaming for help for 40 minutes. >> i was just thinking about my family. i wanted to get out. >> reporter: did it hurt? >> yeah. i felt stinging and burning. >> reporter: the family says she had no history of shaking before the accident and a doctor diagnosed her with posttraumatic stress disorder. children's hospital has denied liability in the lawsuit and in a statement they wrote mris are an effective tool because

eric rasmussen is here now with a new video that is raising new concerns. >> reporter: we are talking about broken doors, windows and pluming. they have been under fire since the previous owner tried to have the place burned down four years ago. in february lawyers representing the people who live that hotel shot this cell phone video highlighting what they call horrific conditions. all of this was after 2 investigates exposed a number of problems there when we went undercover and booked a room in january. tenants say management has made some repairs since then but the city of oakland hasn't done enough to hold the owners and managers accountable. >> i don't understand how building inspectors can have all these things done, they are just now getting tornado complaints. >> -- around to complaints. >> isn't there evidence this hotel has serious problems? >> that is why we are going in the rooms and saying you got to do this, got to do that. >> reporter: 2 investigates discovered city of oakland code enforcement issued 20 notices of violations after our first report back in february. the
