live in san leandro, eric savidge, kutv chaps. >>> we have updated information tonight on an amtrack train accident that injured 39 people in contra costa county last night. it's a story we first brought you live on the 10 news last night we know 37 patterns and two amtrak crewmembers have all been released from hospitals. police say a big rig was crossing the train tracks east of brentwood near discover bay when the train hit it at about 7:30 last night. that crossing there has no gates or warning lights. d-ray and parker of the big rig were not injured. amtrak tells ktvu news that the ntsb will not be investigating this crash. >>> a wandering sea lion is recovering after making its way across the bay shore freeway. rescuers say the sea lion apparently crossed all lanes of highway 101 in burlingame before ending up in a dix flare the broadway off-ramp. highway patrol closed that afterramp for two hours so the mammal center could corral the animal. they are try treating the animal for injuries including trauma to its jaw. >>> a wet forecast is predicted in the bay area. calfire begin

ktvu's eric savidge explains why police were chasing the car when the accident happened. >> reporter: the violent crash currentled this 1990 buick sedan, the car slammed into i concrete divider and burst into flames. three people inside were killed on impact, one woman survived. >> we found some of the parties ejected or partially ejected, which tells us as investigators that they were improperly restrained inside the car. >> reporter: this accident happened just about 3:00 a.m. on the 98 avenue off-ramp from north 880 in oakland. investigators say this car was traveling fast when it lost control on the curve and if you look closely, you can see it was split into two pieces. and san leandro police say they were chasing this car when the crash happened. they say an officer saw the car driving erratically through the parking lot of this food max store and tried to pull the driver over, but the car took off and police pursued. after the crash, investigators searched the car. >> we did find some beverage containers for alcoholic beverages. however, we do not now if impairment is an issue.
