eric schmidt avoided the tax that president obama enforces.e obvious hypocrisy, there are two points to be made here. number one, eric schmidt did the right thing for his shareholders. they own the company. they want to share in the money that google makes. the ceo has the responsibility to act in their best interest. if google had brought the money back here, it would have been taxed at the highest rate in the developed world, 35%, and then if it were paid out in a dividend, the money would be taxed again at a rate that may get up to 43% next year. it's in the interest of the shareholders to park it in bermuda. he did the right thing. second point, is that the president -- the second point is that the president is wrong to insist on keeping this high corporate tax rate. if he were to lower it, significantly, maybe some of that 1.7 trillion dollars that companies keep overseas would come back to stimulate america. but no, president obama is not a tax cutter. here's a suggestion, perhaps our corporate leaders should stop supporting an administr

i'm talking about the executive chairman of google, eric schmidt. his net worth rumored to be approaching $8 billion, according to forbes magazine, and despite being an obama donor and serving on the president's council of advisors on science and technology, mr. schmidt is one of those liberals that falls into the category of do as i say, not as i do. here's why. in recent days his company, google, has made headlines for, well, not exactly paying their fair share. ity turns out that schmidt at te helm of the company when according to a report by bloomberg news, coul google avod about $2 billion in worldwide income taxes in 2011 by shifting 9.8 billion dollars in revenues into a bermuda shell company, almost double the total from three years before according to filings. now, while the report notes that the money was moved around legally, this seems like a direct contradiction to president obama's non-stop lectures about corporate greed and paying your fair share. mr. schmidt has since responded to the controversy saying he's, quote, proud of his tax

google executive chairman eric schmidt recently called israel "the most important high tech center in the world, after the united states." so it is no surprise that our diplomatic challenge is not only about a dialogue of strategic and political interests, including not just our soldiers and our politicians, but increasingly including our techies and our venture capitalists and our entrepreneurs. since israel signed america's first- ever free trade agreement back in 1985, trade between us has increased from 5 billion to more than 35 billion. but all that we hope to accomplish together depends on keeping israelis safe to pursue their passions in peace and security. it depends on ensuring israel's future as a secure, democratic, jewish state. so tonight i want to speak about four of the goals that our countries must pursue together to make that happen in a new middle east. first, iranian-made missiles and rockets launched from gaza at tel aviv and jerusalem only drove home what we already know -- america, israel, and the entire international community must prevent iran from acquiring a
