like clinton or like schmidt practice what they preach joining me from our studio in new york is eric schwartz executive director of demand progress and i want to thank you so much for joining us tonight and before we get into some of the nitty gritty of what clinton had to say i mean i guess this is a positive development that at least internet freedom is something that's being discussed on a global scale. oh yeah i mean you know props to clinton for going out speaking in favor of internet freedom and putting the onus on the private companies that have been exploiting this surveillance technology you know we can criticize it and i'm sure we will but at the very least this is a really positive development and it's putting the pressure where belongs all right well let's take a listen to exactly what she said when it came to private companies selling that technology to certain actors. when companies sell surveillance equipment to the security agency of syria or iran or in past times qaddafi there can be no doubt it will be used to violate rights. now. i think about a good point right a lot of pe
