congressman eric sorensen of illinois joins me now. meteorologist for decades, we can almost take the politics out of this. what is your reaction to a proposal that would end noaa and end the national weather service and why does it matter? >> it is outrageous when you think about it. something as nonpartisan as the national weather service which protects us, which issues the watches and the warnings, the national hurricane center which literally, they put themselves in harms way when they get into airplanes to go do reconnaissance of tropical storms and hurricanes. we as americans, we do not bat an eye for the benefit of the national weather service. just imagine for a moment if that were to go away, what would that mean for areas that have been ravaged? for people to not get the warnings ahead of time, what would that mean for air travel if we did not have forecasters understanding turbulence, or what would we be talking about today on this saturday a new tropical storm has formed in the gulf of mexico which is setting its eyes on ce
