i'm eric thomas. >>> and i'm kristen sze. in san francisco police investigating a homicide on main street under the bay bridge. katie marzullo has been on the scene all morning. what have you learned about the victim? >> reporter: we've seen a lot of activity we haven't learned a lot of new information. he's adult male and not an employee of pg&e. that is despite speculation because there was a pg&e crew on the scene way we've seen in the last few minutes, the scene is starting to clear. police may be wrapping up their investigation. we've seen several unmarked and marked police cars leave the scene. we've also seen the coroner van presumably take the body away. adult male found in the middle of main street between harrison and bryan. police are not saying how this person was killed. we've seen them interviewing several possible witnesses on the street. homeless person who appears to have been sleeping on the sidewalk and another man. we talked with a security guard who works in one of the buildings. he says this area is quie

. >>> i'm eric thomas. not only is it rainy and wet it is windy and problems are stacking up for commuters from ponding on roads to trees blocking the roads. amy hollyfield joins us live from the coolidge on-ramp near highway 58 know oakland with the latest from there. -- highway al 0 with this -- 580. >> reporter: tree gone crews cleared the area. they got it done in time for the morning commute which was their goal. here's what they were dealing with this tree fell on to the on-ramp for eastbound 580 at coolidge avenue it was blocking both lanes. downed trees is a common occurrence now all over the bay area this storm is saturating the ground and the trees can't hang on some have fallen on to homes standing water is another issue no reports of major flooding that is the concern that could be next because the -- because the ground is getting saturated and we have a few days more of rain expected that is the concern. right now the next focus is this morning's commute. officers are worried it is very wet out

. >>> i'm eric thomas. homicide detectives in oakland are trying to track down the shooter who killed a 36-year-old father of four who was apparently shot while trying to help out his own dad. amy hollyfield is live in oakland with more on the story. >> reporter: police are saying it was some kind of a neighborhood dispute. they found the man shot and left on 26th avenue off of fruitvale. his grieving family was around him and they were so upset some neighbors woke up when they heard their cries. the family says the man came out to help his father with some kind of an argument or dispute. police wouldn't say what the fight was about. they are just describing it as a neighborhood altercation. any way, the man came out and was trying to help his father and was shot dead. homicide investigators are being very careful about the information they released. they don't want to hurt their investigation so they haven't said what kind of gun was used, how many rounds were fired or whether the victim was armed. they ha

i'm eric thomas. >>> and i'm kristen sze. >>> we begin with breaking news in oakland. the latest tree taken down by the storm has caused a fatality on highway 13. >> amy what can you tell us? >> reporter: i just -- let me tell you what happened. i just got a briefing from the battalion chief on the scene. she said a tree had fallen down on the roadblocking all lanes at highway 13 a car full of four young people in their early 20s hit the tree. they say a woman in the car was ejected. a 21-year-old man in the car got out to go look for her to check on her, he was hit by a car and kill. here's the scene behind me -- car and killed. here's the scene behind me blocked off southbound highway 13 park boulevard in oakland probably going to be shutdown for a while. investigators are going to have to take time on this one. we've seen them with flashlights looking around for information on this case. it is obviously very dark out here. they are dealing with people who are very traumatized. they are in shock. they are having some issues piecing together what happened. i've heard

i'm eric thomas in for cheryl jennings. >>> and i'm kristen sze. david louie is live at the police command center. >> reporter: as you can see behind me the san jose police have an inter section barricaded blossom avenue at blossom hill road. behind the police cars the s.w.a.t. team believe they are keeping an eye on a house where a suspect may be inside. someone who they are definitely trying to capture. neighbors tell us the house is vacant not visible from our advantage point. the suspect is thought to be involved in a carjacking and possible robberies in the south san jose neighborhood. there's an elementary school inside the roped off area, earl frost. students have been instructed to stay in classrooms. the elementary is part of the oak grove school district it has classes from kindergarten through 7th grade. we spoke to a resident who lives a few houses down from where the suspect may be hiding. >> this is normally very quiet. within the last month we've had the bank robbery, now this >> reporter: what is your concern now? >> i just want to

good morning i'm eric thomas. >>> i'm kristen sze. sky 7 hd followed the chase nearly an hour. at least two occasions she almost wiped out as she dodged traffic. the chase finally came to an end more than 100 miles later on highway 680 north of mission boulevard, two miles after the driver hit a spike strip. she slowly came to a stop after a brief standoff pulled out of her car by officers and taken into custody. the chase began in sacramento when a chp officer tried to pull over the driver for speeding. her name is jennifer zinn. she is either 44 or 45-years-old. at this time still no word why she ran from officers. >>> right now oakland police are surrounding a cvs farmly in the rock ridge mall. a masked man reportedly holed up inside police don't know if he's armed they know two employees inside weren't taking any chances. terry mcsweeney is at the scene. >> reporter: we were just getting the latest information from the police department. the s.w.a.t. team has gone into the pharmacy here. they've gone through the store looking for someone mo might have been armed, -- might h
