i'm eric thomas. the 10-year-old boy went zooming off one of the slides yesterday. it was the first day of operation at the 31,000-square-foot water park in dublin. abc 7 news reporter leslie brinkley is live with new details at the wave. and leslie, the inspectors have lots of questions to answer. >> that's right, eric. tonight here at the wave, dublin city officials say they want to know what happened. why did that 10-year-old boy careen off a slide on the very first day this park was operating here. cal osha inspected all six of these slides on friday and issued permits. the very next day, 90 minutes after the grand opening on saturday, this happened. a 10-year-old boy hydroplaned off the emerald plunge slide. he scraped his back and is now back home with his family in san francisco. after the accident, the green slide and the blue slide next to it, both with steep 80-degree drops were shut down. now a third slide has been closed. >> totally unrelated. simply put, we need to continue to monitor the

i'm eric thomas.t breaking news is in the east bay, where police are searching for an uber driver's car after the man was abducted at gunpoint in san francisco. the driver was forced to drive to richmond. let's get straight to abc 7 news reporter melanie woodrow, who's live in richmond. >> reporter: that uber driver is here at richmond police department after what was likely a terrifying two-hour or deal being forced to drive around at gunpoint. we have the video to show you of the uber driver. his face is blurred because he has asked us not to reveal his identity. he tells abc 7 news that he was off duty in san francisco, his doors were unlocked when two people-a i man and a woman, jumped into his vehicle and demanded that he drive around. he says the man the woman had a knife. he drove, as you said, all the way to richmond and at some point was forced to stop at an atm to take out money-x that is when he says he made his escape. he made his way then to the richmond police department. though suspects

i'm eric thomas.ws are working right now at the scene of that massive fire in emeryville. the fire starte around 5:00 this morning at a construction site that has now burned twice in one year. 18 hours later the fire is still smoldering in some spots, and there's also an unstable crane in the middle of the burn area. abc 7 news reporter lisa aminute galician joins us live from the scene at adeline street. what's happening now, lisa? >> reporter: eric, this situation is still very unstable. the heavy equipment arrived a short time ago and we were forced to move back to this area in case that crane falls. the man is to dismantle it and have it slowly move south in a controlled fall. you can see the street sign, adeline street. behind it is a vacant lot and the hope is the crane will land there. it's a painstaking process that requires extreme precision. if this crane collapses it would come crashing down on nearby apartments. >> the crane has suffered catastrophic failure with being exposed to the heat

. >>> good evening, i'm eric thomas, we're staying on top of two breaking news stories. the first is major delays on all b.a.r.t. trains after a derailment. we told you about the problem in a push alert just after 3:30 this afternoon. abc 7 news was first on the scene and reporter tiffany wilson is live with new reaction from passengers, tiffany. >> reporter: eric, b.a.r.t. officials are calling this a minor derailment, but it's led to major disruptions all afternoon. i want you to look at the two train cars that derailed right before 3:00. one of them is actually sitting on the ground right now. now, those two cars were part of a nine-car pleasanton bound train and they fell several feet off of the tracks. officials are currently on the cars right now assessing the damage. b.a.r.t. says 24 people were on board as it left the station and passengers felt the train shudder, shake, violently about 10 times in a row, and then it ground to a stop. no one was hurt, but passengers were alarmed by the smoke. >> there was smoke coming out from the car behind me, and i guess that'

abc7 news anchor eric thomas is live with more. >> reporter: the tragic accident happened just a few feet from where i'm standing. this track is just west of the collegiate academy, and the student was on his way to school when the tragedy occurred. the 15-year-old student died own this railroad track just west of his school. the young man was a junior at kipp king collegiate academy. students and faculty are taking his death hard. >> we're a close knit school and we love each other and we care deeply about each person that is on that campus. >> reporter: police say the victim was riding his bike on the tracks about 8:00 this morning when a mile long southbound train came up behind him. >> we understand that he did not hear the train coming up behind him. and by the time he did realize it it was too late. >> reporter: complicating matters was that the teen had reached this narrow bridgebridge is more narrow than the rest of the tracks. >> please stay off the railroad tracks, there is nothing good that comes of traversing, of taking a shortcut through the railroad tracks. >> reporter:

eric thomas is live with the story tonight. >> reporter: one of those condos is on this building on beal street right behind me. the city attorney's office accuses the women fraudulently obtaining the condos under the city's affordable housing program and renting them out and making a lot of money in the city's hot housing market. it's a well-known fact a condo in a building like this in san francisco is out of the financial reach of a lot of san franciscans. that's why there is an aaffordable housing program. >> this type of housing program is meant to help the neediest people. what these two individuals did was take housing away from those who need it the most. attorney has filed suit accusing a woman of buying it and renting it out and using proceeds to buy a home in a county where she lives and this woman using it on beal street and another street, and only supposed to have one and races the question why didn't the double purchase raise red flags. >> they should. because they sign this under oath and make these representations, the city in good faith believe these people are of a par
