i'm erica bryant. >> and i'm scott wickersham. we crunched the numbers to find out how much money you'll save. >> reporter: duke energy made the announcement, energy prices going down 3% across the board. they say it's the trend in energy prices. it may sound strange but the company doesn't make any profit when the prices go down, the savings are passed on to the consumer. natural gas is at a record low. >> we sit down with the north carolina utilities commission. >> reporter: the costs have been falling for years but not by this much. in 2015 2015 it dropped about 33 accepts but this september, it will drop $3.76. >> i think that's substantial. you know, that's about 3%, so i think customers appreciate anything that we can do. >> reporter: that savings will last until january 1 and go back up slightly for energy programs for a net savings of $3.11. >> that's a whole lot. >> reporter: but some are worried that it won't last. >> they may lower the rates right now but if they jack them back up three months from now,

erica bryant is breaking down who is favored to win. >> reporter: allison and scott, there were 107 delegates for the democrats and 72 for the republicans in north carolina. earlier at 5:00, we told you that presidential candidate hillary clinton was the only presidential candidate to make a stop in north carolina today. and tonight, she'll be headed to florida. there is a new poll that shows clinton is leading bernie sanders 56 to 37%. sanders was in chicago today day after he spoke to thousands at the pnc music pavilion in charlotte. meantime, ted cruz doesn't have any campaign stops today but is expected to be in texas tonight for a watch party. on sunday, he was in concord for a rally. candidate donald trump also won't be making known campaign stops but will be in florida tonight holding a news conference. yesterday, he was at lenoir ryan university in hickory where six people were cited. the public policy poll show that is trump has a commanding lead in north carolina with 44%. cruz is in second place with 33. channel 9 learned that cumberland county sheriffs office will not charge trump

i'm erica bryant. chief meteorologist steve udelson joining us now from latest on the storms and the time line for all of this. >> scott, conditions are ripe for showers and storms in the charlotte area, pushing 80 this afternoon. we saw plenty of sunshine out there. look at the mountains seeing storms pushing across ash county, on top of lansing. a lot of cloud to ground lightening. and locally heavy rain. toward grandfather mountain, we're seeing a developing storm. it's about to cross highway 105. it's moving northeast through seven devils and boone in 15 minutes. the biggest storm on the map where there's a severe thunderstorm warning is over greenville south carolina in the upstate. that's producing a lot of lightning. and some large hail. i'm seeing signs of hail to the size of quarters. and that's going to push to the east south of i-85. so it's going to move toward clover at 8:00, lake wiley at 8:15. toward york and rock hill as well. here's a look at the future cast, it's not going to be one s

. >> i'm erica bryant. police say they're patrolling around sheffield neighborhood park. eyewitness news reporter mark becker is here to break down what's being done to find this man. >> erica, those incidents happened over the course of several months here at sheffield neighborhood park. but police believe they are related. and i did speak with one of those victims today. she spoke to us in spanish and she ask that we not show her face. she said she was walking in the park with her 2 small children when the man grabbed her and she told police he sexually assaulted her. grabbing her backside with both hands. >> i was very afraid she told me because i didn't know what he would do to me or my children. police believe it was at least the second incident in this park involving that same suspect described as a short latino man in his 20s or early 30s. in one other the victim told police he'd exposed himself to her. >> we, you know, of course take this all very, very seriously. >> lieutenant christian wagner told us the suspect was gone by the time officers got here that day but

. >> and i'm erica bryant. dug through those survey results in just the past few hours. d ashawn. >> reporter: erica, a huge part of this meeting was making sure community members had a chance to see those survey results for themselves. more than 27,000 people responded and tonight they also moved the meeting time back, just so those who wanted to be here could attend this meeting. now for the first hour, cms policy committee members went through student assignment goals for the 2017 school year. they compare those goals to members broke down with three a's. assumptions, agreements, and arguments. now what most came to see were the results of that student assignment survey, which aimed at uncovering what parents found most important in a school. now the full report is more than 200 pages long. so we broke down some of those survey results and here's some of that right now. 80% said the staff is most 75 said school environment, and 67% said location and how close schools were to home. tonight i spoke with some of the people who came out for this meeting. some said they lef
