erica gonzalez has more on the investigation and reaction from the neighbors. >> reporter: just before 4:00 this morning, police say they responded to shots fired near the bening road metro station. according to police, a verbal dispute of sorts set off the suspect. >> it almost sounds like it was involving alcohol and just people running their mouth. >> reporter: police say the man then shot two people riding in their car. a 16-year-old girl and a 24-year-old by the name of steven way. they say the two victims were hit with multiple gunshots, and the suspect who remains at large showed little respect for the public safety, in a potentially combustible arena. >> anyone that is willing to pull out a gun over an exchange of some words i don't think is really concerned with the public safety or well-being, whether it's at a gas station or anywhere else. >> reporter: the teen was transported to a nearby hospital. but police say she's going to make it. way, on the other hand, died. police would not discuss their relationships and say the victims had no prior relationship to the suspect. nea
