. >> one of them snapped this photo of investigators on the tracks erika gonzales is live at union station with how this will impact passengers as the morning commute gets under way. erika? >> reporter: service suspended between d.c. and philadelphia this morning, not what passengers want to hear. as soon as we got here, we went inside union station, started checking the boards. everything said on time. this is a few minutes ago. we started speaking to somebody, a couple and their son who were actually on the amtrak train that struck and killed two people. this is late last night as you have been reporting all morning long. as we were talking to them, they were telling us how long they had been stuck on the train. you start seeing a flood of people coming back from the waiting area, saying their train had been cancelled. some of the video i posted on twitter this morning showing a long line of people trying to get new trains out of d.c. one woman saying her train was scheduled for 3:15 this morning. now she says it is pushed to 6:30 this morning was his train, now doesn't know when he is a

erika gonzales is at station. justin finch has more. >> reporter: take a look, it is still parked on the tracks hours after the deadly crash involving two people struck here. this happened we are told close to 11:20 last night. with amtrak 175 coming in, closing in on a destination not far away at union station. after that crash came to a stop here on the tracks around 1200 block of new york avenue northeast. on board, 121 passengers and crew. officials telling us that no one on board was hurt. we do know one rail worker was taken to the hospital for a check up. you can see that train is still parked on the track, looking like it has been here all night. investigators will take advantage of daylight to see as many details as what we know about the two people so far is not much. hearing from amtrak officials, they may have been two trespassers. justin finch, news4, back to you. >> thank you. it is 6:03. live look from union station where amtrak trains are stalled after last night's crash. >> news4 erika gonzales is

i'm erika gonzales. it took 100 firefighters to get it under control. the fire started early this morning while some were still asleep. some jumped, others hung out of windows until help arrived. news 4 talked to some who lived in the building and joins us now from northwest. darlsy. >> reporter: erika, this is the building behind me on peabody street where flames broke out, like you said, about 3:00 in the morning. at that time as you can imagine many were asleep. a lot of people are telling me it is basically a miracle no one fire. a short time ago i was able to speak to a spokesperson for the fire department. one interesting thing he told me when firefighters went into the lobby of the apartment building they encountered a wall of smoke, and there were residents literally on the floor crawling, trying to find their way out. >> it was just terrible. i looked out the window. there was just so much smoke. >> reporter: larry minor was asleep at 3:00 when the fire broke out near his apartment. he watched as firefighters rescued residents, even small child
