erika gonzalez is with us now. >> reporter: good morning, guys. remember that if you are seeing more speed cameras it's because people are requesting them. traffic crash, pedestrian safety, all of that adds to those requests. we're driving along livingston road in southeast showing you the newer areas where the cameras have come up. warnings being issued right now. later these will be tickets. aaa just released its review of numbers, how many tickets, kind of where. more than 2 metro region during 2016. four out of nine speed tickets were issued in washington, d.c. alone. so big difference between montgomery and prince george's counties. the district has collected a total of $536 million in speed camera ticket revenue since 2007. those dollars go towards public safety, helping to reduce tax burden on residents and visitors. we combed through those numbers and since those speed cameras started in the district traffic fatalities have gone down by 76% in those areas. we're driving along in southeast this morning, i'm erika gonzalez. back to you. >>>

i'm erika gonzalez. neighbors stunned to learn a young woman killed her mother and turned the gun on herself. darcy spencer talked to people in the community and joins us live from mclaine tonight. darci. >> reporter: erika we are here on dean drive. this is the house where the tragedy unfolded yesterday afternoon. the fairfax county police cruiser still parked in the driveway. neighbors telling me until recently there was a seven-year-old girl living in the house. they were relieved to find out she was safe. neighbors confirmed this is a a contractor killed in her home by her daughter. they confirm this is the daughter, helen hargan, who police say pulled the trigger shooting her mom and taking her own life. police received a call saying someone may have been killed inside the home. when they forced their way in they found the bodies. for a second day fairfax county police continue their investigation into the murder/suicide on dean drive. they brought out bags of evidence. a police dog sniffed around th

good evening, i'm erika gonzalez. neighbors were shocked to get a reverse 911 call telling them to stay in their houses. they say they cannot what happened. >> reporter: an unusual site in this mclean neighborhood, crime scene tape from a forensics truck in the driveway. even more troubling, the reason they are there. police have identified the two women found dead in the home friday afternoon. 23-year-old helen lorena hargan shot and killed her mother, 63-year-old pamela denise hargan. they say helen then turned the gun on herself. >> oh, my god. i cannot believe it. >> reporter: it's a quiet street here and most people had no inkling anything like this was going on. until they got a call from the police, that reverse 911 call. >> then i get that call, saying, don't go out and stay inside. i said, okay, whats this happening? you know, i was just sort of panicking. >> reporter: indeed, that call led to a lot of uneasiness in this neighborhood. then they saw the a house that neighbors say the family's been in for maybe

i'm erika gonzalez. >> it's 4:32. we want to go back to the breaking news on 210 where an accident has taken the lives of two people. >> megan mcgrath has arrived on the scene. megan, what do you know? >> reporter: well, this is going to be an ongoing situation here for the next several hours. certainly going to be a large impact for folks who take route 210. closed in both directions behind me. this is the closure at kerby hill. on the other d, this is a deadly accident that happened around 2:40 this morning involving two cars. two sedans. two people were pronounced dead here on the scene. one of the victims from each of the cars. because this is a double fatal and those victims died here at the scene, we're awaiting the medical examiner to arrive here. this is going to be quite some time before things are cleared up higher. apparently a debris field across on the other side of the roadway as well. both cars, i'm told, were on the southbound side of 210. but there's a debris field on to the northbound lanes as well.
