erin, it's great to have you here.well know, this is only the latest of amazon's health care ventures. it acquired the online pharmacy company pillpack back in 2018. it launched its own amazon pharmacy in 2020. what does acquiring one medical represent for amazon? erin: i mean, as you said, amazon was already a powerful force in the health care space. this deal turbocharges all of their existing efforts in the space. it's really about three things. it's about scale. it's about hybrid primary care. and it's about entering the medicare advantage market. geoff: so you already have lots of one medical customers who are saying they're going to cancel their memberships because of this amazon deal. they want no parts of this because of privacy concerns. what, if anyimpact might that have on this acquisition, on this deal? erin: yeah, so i think that's a really important concern. amazon does have a spotty track record when it comes to consumer privacy. i do want to point out, though, that because it is acquiring one medical, w

>> well, erin, it's really interesting. to be quite frank, a lot of what we have heard over the last 24 hours really doesn't make sense when we line it up with what we know took place over the last year around this issue. so we know that as early as 2021, the national archives were negotiating with folks at mar-a-lago to recover things that had been taken there. we know in january they got the 15 boxes. we know that in february, they asked the department of justice to review what they had received to see if there was classified information in there. doj started a grand jury investigation. they submitted a subpoena to the national archives to be able to review that material. then of course, you had this meeting in june. so that's not that long ago, where the doj and fbi agents are at mar-a-lago. they see this room full of documents. they later tell the folks at mar-a-lago to better secure that room. it doesn't make sense that from that year-long negotiation you would all of a sudden have a search warrant that was a complete

erin? >> all right, manu, thank you very much. of the reasons it's been delayed and become controversial is that one of the pay force in this bill is now gone, one of the things that would pay for the more than 300 billion and spending. the pay foregone as what democratic senator kirsten sinema demanded in exchange for her vote. the tax increased that she would not support is closing the carried interest loophole. this is something we have been talking about on this show for a decade. it is a loophole, but both democrats and republicans have pounded the table to close. here is why. carried interest loophole boils down to this, small group of very wealthy people who manage other people's money get to pay about half the top tax rate on their income. instead of 37%, they pay 20%. that is how it goes. day in, day out, you're in, you're out, critics of senator sinema say she opposes closing the loophole because of money. according to open secrets, she's received two point $2 million in contributions over the past five years from the in

erin: similar to japan, california has a really wet, cold winter and a really hot, dry summer. in the summertime, it's really hot in the day, but it cools off at night, and this gives the plant a time to rest. so by resting, it's able to really mature into a nice, beautiful japonica variety. once this water is on the field, then they'll drop the seed by airplane. erin: as the rice ant emers from the water, it'll grow out and mature all through the summer, in the nice, hot summer. we'll begin to harvest the rice and then mill it down to sake rice. we really want to get to that sweet, starchy center in the middle of the rice, shimpaku center, and that white center is where all these sugars live. for sake rice, what you need to do is continue to mill it down so you get right down into that shimpaku center and take away as many proteins as you can. as a junmai sake would be a 70% sake, so then you're milling 30% of the outer layer of the rice kernel off, or a daiginjo sake would be a 50% milled sake, so then you're milling 50% of the rice kernel off. so you could imagine that takes

erin: yes. there is a lot of demand.hile people are switching on walmart, vacations, the experiences. as long as unemployment stays below 5%, those are the companies that can grow. that's one area. more so on the smaller and mid-caps side, they were hit a little harder the past week. in general, valuations are much lower than the mega caps and large caps. we are talking about valuation perspective, yes, it's going to be a challenging period to grow as rates rise, but the valuations have been so beaten out. they are trading at a 30% discount. one of those things is basically a technology company, mid-cap. shery: when you look at your clients who want to retire on savings and the money they make, there was an interesting story last week about the retirement crisis. because of market turmoil, 401k, are there people who have those open? we are hearing from president biden about student loans later this week. given the volatility, how do you manage that for the future, for young people? erin: i think this particular downturn

>> i did, erin. by the way, it's good to see you again. thanks for having me. surprising because it was his job to sort of keep track of those documents. but that's fine, we'll have to deal with that as we can. but yeah, from time to time the president would say can i keep this? but we had entire teams of people to make sure those documents didn't get left behind, didn't get taken up to the residence. he would use them. that was his right as the president of the united states. but to draw a direct line from that to somehow those documents ending up in the basement of mar-a-lago doesn't sit well with me. i know for a fact that most of the documents he saw that were classified or higher than that, ts/sci kind of stuff was electronic, not in paper. he liked his briefing electronically. there wasn't a lot of paper to begin with. so when we see this inventory of documents, i'd be curious to see what was there because something is not lining up in my book. >> yeah. in 15 or more boxes today and 11 sets of them were classified. there was obviously one of the highest l

number one i think, look, erin is right.residential approval ratings based on that you determine who will win the house or the senate. but what we're watching right now in american politics is by far one of the most fascinating midterm elections we've probably seen in my lifetime. because you have a president who has a very -- whether you like it or not, a very sort of -- you would say very positive legislative victory. so many legislative victories, bipartisan at that. and he also has the looming idea that a former president might run against him, something we've never seen before. and with that being said, even though his approval ratings are so low, you see democrats being in contention to not only maintain the house, not only maintain the senate rather but to add seats to the united states senate. while i do think the house might be out of reach for the democrats at this point in time, i do think that we might see a couple pickups by the democrats in the senate without the help of a popular president. >> shannon: hmm. al
