erin coleman, nbc 10 news. >>> to another big story we're following at penn state. the university's former president is getting jailtime for his role in the jerry sandusky scandal. graham spanier and two other officials sentenced today. spanier will spend two months in jail. in march failing to act on signs jerry sandusky was a child president te predator. shultz was sentenced to two months. curly received a three-month sentence. >>> a graduate coaching assistant told administrators he saw jerry sandusky molesting a boy in a football team shower back in 2001. spanier, curly and shultz did not report him to child welfare authorities or police. sandusky is serving a 30 to 60-year sentence. defense attorneys were surprised by today's sentences. >> these men have no past criminal record. so they should have received probation. they didn't. an expectation. not a hope, but expectation. >> late football coach joe paterno was criticized for failing to alert authorities as well. >>> and a philadelphia city councilman is back on the job two days after being stabbed during a r

erin: good morning to you, i'm erin coleman for "nbc10 @issue." lawmakers in pennsylvania are betting on slots, fantasy sports, and online gambling, hoping the state will cash in, but not everyone agrees. and today, both sides sound off. among other changes to pennsylvania gaming laws, house bill 271 allows up to 40,000 slot-like gaming terminals, known as vgts, in bars, bowling alleys, and truck stops. the house of representatives passed the bill 102 to 89 with support from both republicans and democrats. with me now is pennsylvania state representative maria donatucci, and state representative mark mustio joined us from harrisburg. so, let's start out, why support this bill? what's in it for pennsylvanians? mark mustio: several years ago on the appropriations committee, we were tasked with finding non-broad-based tax revenue for the state. and currently in pennsylvania, there are anywhere between 25,000 and 40,000 illegal poker machines. and other states have legalized video gaming terminals in bars, taverns, restaurants, and clubs, illinois bei

good evening, i'm erin coleman. >> and i'm keith jones.by's defense team has been picking away at cell phone calls made to cosby after the alleged assault. her attorneys did speak outside the courthouse. >> reporter: she can't speak publicly about the case. but her lawyers can and they are angry at the defense for keeping their quiet on the stand for a second day and trying to discredit her story. >> the civil lawyer is sarcastic outside of kourlt today. she's been in the courtroom days listening to the prosecution's case and the defense angle on the events that allegedly happened. on the second day, andrea constand on the weekend stand said lawyers were picking away at cell phone conversations she had with cosby in the days and weeks after he drugged her and sexually assaulted her. constand was the director of operations for bwomen's basketball at temple university. cosby a major alumni. defense lawyers spent forur hous looking at cell phone records. her cell phone was part of the records and that's where they communicated dozens of times
