we begin this morning with nbc10's erin coleman who sat down with the president of the national urban league, marc morial. he calls the black community strong and resilient, but admits there are still challenges ahead. marc morial: one challenge is we're in this new environment, we're in the trump environment. and rollbacks and cutbacks and efforts to repeal are, if you will, diminish value and the effectiveness of civil rights laws and civil rights principles is in play now. i think secondarily, we are in a time when, although black unemployment has come down, the economy is doing better, even black people who were not working 6 years ago, 7 years ago and now working, poverty, the challenges of people's paychecks not providing them with the money they need to pay the basic necessities of life is a new reality. it's a 21st century reality. it's the reality of post-recession america. rosemary: tomorrow is the martin luther king jr. holiday. and this spring marks 50 years since he was assassinated. so, i asked morial, what would dr. king think of the state of black america now? marc: i

good morning, i'm erin coleman. we're also learning that the suspect was critically wound. let's go to nbc 10 steven fisher he is live at the scene. steven, what have you learned? >> reporter: so far we've been told the task force was out here this morning serving a search warrant about 6:30, and that's when the u.s. marshal was shot here on mull berry street. take a look at the scene. we've got police all over from a couple different agencies here. you'll of course have mulberry street which is shut down. there are crime scene markers all over the street. you can't see that now that this police car just came in here and kiechb blocked our view. also investigators, police going in and out of every home here on the block trying to talk to neighbors about this potential suspect. again, a u.s. marshal was killed and a york city police officer also shot during this altercation. but his injuries, the york city detective rather, are considered to be non-life-threatening. harrisburg officer was also injured but expected to be okay. the names of the officers involved not released a
