good evening, i'm erin coleman. the snow will begin early for some, much later for others. glenn? >> erin this is one of the slowest moving snow systems we've ever seen. so it's kind of a strange forecast, you'll see. accumulating snow for the entire area, eventually some of it starts as early as 6:00 a.m. tomorrow, some of it not until noon on wednesday. the greatest amount of snow, greatest number of hours of snow, lehigh valley, berks county, poconos, we have slippery commutes ahead. the radar shows some of it moving eastward across pennsylvania. not all that impressive, you don't see any kind of circular area indicating a storm, it's into the really a storm, and look at this, the start times about 6:00 a.m. for berks, lehigh, the poconos, it's going to take all day just to get to the next closest round of counties. chester, bucks montgomery, and then it's going to take all evening to get to philadelphia and northern delaware, parts of south jersey. and then it's going to take all night to get toward the shore, so it may not start there until 6:00 a.m. on wednesday. so that's wh

. >> i'm erin coleman.ice couldn't say how it was on the street where moms were taking their children to school. >> just speaking to police, joining us live in south philadelphia with the latest information, sidney. >> reporter: i can tell you the police commissioner made this year. this was a violent attack on his off-duty officer and he has concern about the discharge of this weapon, not so much the number of shots fired but the totality of the incident. when a reckless driver struck a pedestrian at broad and big ler streets this morning, the commissioner said it was intentional. police reviewing the surveillance images along with witness interviews that tell the story of a good samaritan charged after blocking that suspect's charge. that's when an off-duty officer who identified himself telling the suspect to drop to the pavement was attacked by that

. >> i'm erin coleman.dward, was formally charged. >> he's accused of having abrasions, scratches and dirt on his hands. he's also accused of cleaning up the car that he used the night he picked up blaze. >> 20-year-old sam woodward stabbed blaze bernstein more than 20 times, then buried him in a shallow grave at a california park. prosecutors say he then visited the crime scene days after the murder. the orange county register reported there may have been sexual overtones to the crime but the d.a. says they're still looking for the exact motive. >> what were the circumstances that led to this? and so that requires a lot of work. we need to develop all of the digital and forensic evidence to see what we can find. >> bernstein was a 19-year-old college student at the university of pennsylvania. his parents reported him missing january 2nd from their california home while he was on winter break. that's the same

good morning, i'm erin coleman. we can expect to see snow falling into the afternoon. our first alert team of meteorologists is tracking the snow. let's start with glenn "hurricane" schwartz. >> this is the type of snow that some people enjoy the most because there's not a lot of wind with it and it melts as it hits, that's for the most part. this is a live picture in reading. we do have some fresh snow on the surfaces from the memorial penn fire tower and this is our normal picture obviously obscured because of the snow, butd fact th but the fact we can see across the river suggests it's not nearly as heavy as it can get sometimes. you'll see a little bit lighter snow already taking place north and west of our area. that drier air will be coming down as we go through the afternoon, and the darker blues indicate where the heavier snow bands are. so as we were talking yesterday, they tend to line up in north/south bands, but as long as the band shifts, nobody really gets nailed with some tremendously heavy snow. let's go into bucks county, you can see over buckingham, w

good morning, i'm erin coleman. we're also learning that the suspect was critically wound. let's go to nbc 10 steven fisher he is live at the scene. steven, what have you learned? >> reporter: so far we've been told the task force was out here this morning serving a search warrant about 6:30, and that's when the u.s. marshal was shot here on mull berry street. take a look at the scene. we've got police all over from a couple different agencies here. you'll of course have mulberry street which is shut down. there are crime scene markers all over the street. you can't see that now that this police car just came in here and kiechb blocked our view. also investigators, police going in and out of every home here on the block trying to talk to neighbors about this potential suspect. again, a u.s. marshal was killed and a york city police officer also shot during this altercation. but his injuries, the york city detective rather, are considered to be non-life-threatening. harrisburg officer was also injured but expected to be okay. the names of the officers involved not released a

good north to you, i'm erin coleman. snow heading our way. we'll have the biggest impact starting tonight and that is why we've issued a first alert. let's get right to nbc 10 meteorologist glen scharts to talk about all this snow. >> this is one of the snowest moving systems that we've ever seen and the main impact of it for much of the area is going to be overnight tonight until noon on wednesday and affecting all areas eventually. the snow mainly coming tonight and the slippery wednesday morning commute across many parts of our area. it's already started in lehigh valley, burks county has had some snow this morning may have some this afternoon, but it's not going to start much of chefrt county, montgomery counties, bucks county until after the afternoon rush today and from the philadelphia area down through south jersey until around 11:00 tonight and the first flakes will probably be melting in this area. and then not until 7:00 tomorrow morning as you head towards the shore. that's just an amazingly slow progress. and you can see it's not
